gazzer, loyal royal Needs to mature as a footballer. Has a petulant red card in him that's for sure. However at 19, the guy has real talent. A leader already at a young age. Has a real burst of speed and is direct, something I like to see in a central midfield.

19? Piss off. He's older than that, shirley.

He's just turned 21, easy mistake to make though, he basically hasn't played since he was 19.

That's not saying a lot though is it?
In today's game he looked completely lost in the first half against Chelsea's foreign midfielders.
To his credit he kept going and the boy certainly has energy. but is a bit prone (as we saw at the Mad Stad) to go over and feign injury when there is nothing wrong with him but he is far from alone in doing that.
A long way to go to match Gerrard IMHO but he does time on his side.

In time maybe he will become a star but having scored just one Premier League goal he has some way to go.

He's got the lot, pace, technique, awareness... and he's solidly built as well. If he can just improve his temperament a little and not get too billy big bollocks he'll be one of our best ever.

Oh well, I suppose that's progress in the last 2 weeks.

Perhaps you'll acknowledge his talent in March.

In reply to RR:-

The first bit was comparing him to the best, the second was just to become an international footballer.
They are different.
BTW with your hate of the professional game what do you think of his excessive diving and feigning of injury?

Nah. Biggest fanny in football. Goes down under the slightest challenges and feigns injury. He also flies in on others and moans when the ref blows. For me, his attitude stinks and I don't want precious little whingebags like that being our Great White Hope. Thanks though.

This. Fucking pansy.

He might go down easy on occasions (we have some of those ourselves don't forget) but he gets battered more than any other English player right now.

Anyway, better get used to him guys, he'll be England captain in 2 years time.

As long as he keeps clean (I'm not talking football here but there have been problems according to the rumour mill) he has every chance.
His illiteracy won't count against him as Beckham has shown speaking English is not essential.
Let's file and come back to this in 2 years' time.

Beckham is a decent enough talker these days.

Credit him with taking education and elocution lessons.

The boy done well.

A decent talker unless you take out the words "amazing" and "it has always been my dream" then there is not much left.
As you say,"the boy done well" which is clearly progrress.
