BR2 I would love if it if we made this signing just for the lol @ melonhead and his mates who think the club will do a Portsmouth if we spend more than £300,000 on a player.

We have spent £300,000 on a player on more than one occasion during this window.

In fact, we spent £1.2m on Stephen Kelly. Not spending money aye?

I thought Kelly was a free transfer.
Oh well, more reason for melonhead to think that we are the next HMV.

Looks like we've made an unsuccessful bid of £6.6M

This will go down till the final hours of the window, Blackpool are out for as much as they can get. Expect Harry to swoop at the last minute…

What concerns me is the first paragraph of that article ....can't get Ince so stepping up efforts to get washed up Bentley....smacks of desperation ...

Surely that's the point though. We've identified a target, we were willing to smash our transfer record for, the offer was rejected (sketchy details as to how far off our offer was), so we've gone for our second target. And our secondary target will be at a lower fee.

Isn't that a sign of sensible financial management? Desperation would be blowing the same amount we offered for Ince on a player of lower ability, wouldn't it?

Ridiculous to quibble over 400k when you're proposing 6.6m plus ad dons

I'd meet the 7m but there would be no addons

Someone's who's allowed to leave on a free is not exactly going to be treated as equivalent to £500k is he?

I'm sure if you offered to Anton would be okay with that. Why not give it a go.

The problem clearly is the ridiculous 35% sell on clause that Liverpool have over Ince. For every £1m we offer, a third of that is going down the road to Anfield. £7m = £4.5m to Blackpool and £2.5m to the Binydippers. There is no doubt the guy is a class act and would be worth every penny of £7m, £8m or even £9m and would be a great statement of intent by RFC. All things being equal, Ince will be an England player in a couple of years. If we were to stay up, his presence could persuade a few other potential signings that little Reading aint so little anymore.

I'm not talking about the fee...Im talking about a player that could come in and make a difference...Bentley is washed up...hardly a long queue of higher level teams vying for him....desperation is ticking the box and getting anyone in ..which is what I think Bentley coming in would be
