SSN reporting bid rejected.

Yellow bar says we've actually withdrawn as they refuse to sell.

SPARTA It's very unlike Reading to confirm we've bid for anyone, so we must be hopeful a deal can be done.

Apparently he can play through the middle, so would be a replacement for Sigurdsson (finally) and the attacking threat we need.

SSN now piggy-backing it - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... t-confirms

"It is understood that the top-flight strugglers have offered a fee in the region of £7million-£8m for a player who scored twice in Blackpool's win at Wolves on Saturday.

Reading have already struck three times in the transfer market this month, bringing in Daniel Carrico, Hope Akpan and Stephen Kelly as they bid to avoid relegation.

McDermott also confirmed the club's interest in Sheffield United striker Nick Blackman, who rejected the chance to talk to Crystal Palace after they had a £1.25million bid accepted by the Blades."

I agree,it is very unlike Reading to say that a bid has been made and Brian sounded very optimistic about a significant signing after the game on Saturday.
Why is that with so many prospects that (not just RFC) there is always stuff (other than with keepers) about a player also being able to play in some other position as if somehow you are getting better value?
We had it with Daniel,he can also play centre-back (if ever I have seen a more unlikely centre-back for the English game this is him) and others before him.
Most players are specialists in one position whereas the "utility" players tend to be not very good in any position

From what I have seen of Ince and Phillips at Blackpool they are both out and out wingers and don't have the obvious extras needed for a no.10 role-that is not to say that they can't it's just that they don't look like that type of player with pace and dribbling skills but not necessarily a great passing range.
It's the same with Jobi playing at full-back or centre mid-field,O.K in an emergency but not as a regular part of a set-up.

Coming back to Ince maybe Blackpool would want HRK in part exchange which would be good business on our part as ,for all his attributes,he flatters to deceive and like Church is at the age where he needs to drop down a level.

I'm guessing Reading tried to force Blackpool's hand by talking about the bid.

When they said on SSN that the was some breaking news from Reading, I thought they were gng to say we'd signed him :x

winchester_royal Bid for Ince confirmed

That means it's not happening then, we stay quiet about players we actually sign.

I think the problem is Zaha has recently been sold for £15m, Blackpool do not need the money and know that they can hold on to him and wait for more money. Also they may not potentially want to sell him to a team who could be relegated and play against them next year.

We move on!

I think anyone doubting the club's appetite for spending serious cash on the right player should probably STFU shouldn't they?

Seems strange to 'withdraw' an offer publicly.

I thought that, I guess it's to say, "we're not going any higher Blackpool."

Let's stick a shirt on the 7m we bid instead, see if it can dig us out of relegation.

What's the thinking about withdrawing the offer??..if they were serious they surely would have left it on the table ...and if nothing more came of it then so be it ....prb another part of the Reading Way of doing things ......

Yeah, but you normally do that by just not increasing your bid. Very unlike Reading to play games like this so maybe Blackpool are playing silly buggers, or perhaps holding out for a higher bid from Liverpool.

You tell 'em EP.

Personally, I'm not sure he's worth that amount anyway.

Wonder if Liverpool have bid lower than that and said they'd waive the sell on clause, so now Blackpool have a bargaining chip.

We probably knew that our offer would fail. Will be interesting to see if we have another go.
Perhaps ince has said no to us? Imagine if they had accepted! Hammond
Would have had heart failure!!

Yeah, when we actually buy a player.

I could go and offer £15m now for a house that's on the market for £25m; doesn't mean I have/or am willing to spend it. It would just placate my nagging wife in the short term as she stupidly thinks I have the intention of buying a huge house.

N.B - I dont have £15m, or a wife. Unfortunately.

For football just replace house with player and wife with mongdiv supporter.

This. When we complete a deal of that magnitude, I'll 'STFU' on this subject. 'Refused to sell' is ambiguous. Every chance we've withdrawn our £7m bid in a hissy fit because they asked for £8m.
