Are we going to sign a player from every team that we play in the FA Cup?! (Man United next :D) I hope that we are tracking these guys, rather than signing players based on one performance against us, but I seem to remember that United signed Ronaldo after he played well against them - that turned out alright....

I agree with most other posters in that he looked like their best player on Saturday. He seemed quite mobile too and looked like he could play up front, on either wing or behind a front man.

Brian is obviously combining his old role of chief scout with that of manager...

Unless our management is incompentent (which it isn't) it'll have the opposition watched at least once before we play them. So that's at least two games.
When we're mostly playing with 1 up top what have we realistically got to offer a 3rd/4th choice striker. He'd struggle to make the bench. I get the point about striker back-up, but we have McCleary and HRK should it come to that. I fancy McCleary could really do the job.
would love to see McCleary up front. Pace, flair and good finishing... a Neymar style striker
:D
GMC's finishing isn't the best from what I have seen of him. Don't get me wrong an awesome player in terms of creativity and playing dangerous balls into the box. He has chipped in with a few goals though I believe there are also chances he has had this season that he should have been more clinical with. I don't think he has the composure to play up front in a striker role. If he can work on that then maybe.

From what I saw of Blackman, he didn't have much to create chances with however when he did get the ball out wide he seemed to cause a couple of problems and Sheff Utd should have scored in my opinion. He seems to be good at taking players on at speed and his physique is one that could be useful for us in the PL. I think he has all the foundations in place to be a sucessful PL striker in the future and he also has someone to look up to who has been there and progressed to the PL from nothing in Alfie which could also benefit him in the long run.

McDermott also confirmed the club's interest in Sheffield United striker Nick Blackman, who rejected the chance to talk to Crystal Palace after they had a £1.25million bid accepted by the Blades.

I guess it's a way of saving on scouting fees ...

Hard choice stay at a failing club run by idiots and a manager that is a complete failure or

Get a pay rise, play in the Premiership under a good manager in a town near London.

He's gone.

He did turn down Palace after a fee was agreed but I'm sensing meltdown here.

Interesting piece about Blackman here. Show pony type apparently, in other words our fans will love him but Brian will never pick him.

I know goals ain't everything, but...

For a League One striker with 11 league goals, 6 from the penalty spot we aren't going to get much more than double that.

Karl must be in a very small number of players who have NEVER kicked a ball in a competitive game for their club (after a transfer?)

Well argued piece ... good read there. Should be writing for someone like WSC.

I thought he had played a competitive game. May have played but never kicked the ball I suppose.

Sounds like a fitter Manset to me. Looked class on Saturday, seems to have raw ability which we can harness (like with Akpan).

This is the end of Church and Roberts Reading careers then. Will obviously be 4th choice though so nothing to get excited about.

How old is he?
