SPARTA I'm surprised how many are complaining about a lack of ambition on this one. With Church off, Hunt and Roberts free in the summer (no contract offered yet), it's a good thing to get one replacement in now, and even if we stay up, we can't realistically spend millions on three new strikers, as well add to the squad elsewhere.

I love these young and hungry players; plus this one looks to have quite a bit about him. Very happy to bring him in if we get him.

'Greed Troy.

Sadly most will be more than happy to write him off before even seeing him play.

Seen him play but had to have it pointed out that he appeared in the Sheff Utd team that we played on Saturday. Sorry but that was a complete squad of instantly forgettable players. Only one game I know but, against a team in the relegation zone of the PL, just what did he do during that game that would suggest he would be a good signing?

Actually thought Blackman looked decent, and certainly no worse in that one game than Alfie.

Anyway, this is another signing that is all about potential rather than ability to keep us up. I doubt any player we sign would be able to make that kind of difference, even someone like Tom Ince.

Not a meltdown signing of course, but these are the type of signings we should be looking to make regardless of position.

Just my opinion but I think he was awful Saturday. Been debating the game with a lad who's a Sheff U fan who plays for me and he thinks he was the best player on the pitch.

He was my marker for why I thought they were such a poor team. He just looked like a big gormless winger who could run and that was about it.

I turned to my old man at one point and said its a good job he was dogshit or we could have been in a bit of trouble.

It was only one game mind and there's loads of people saying he's highly rated. Looked exceptionally league one though.

I'm all for signings like this.

For the future, great for the champ etc.

Trouble is we're looking for a saviour that will get us that one or two points that *might* save us and this he ain't.

QPR found that player with remy who has already gotten them a point. I think they were wrong though as too little too late for them but for us, an immediate impact player is just what we need. Still it won't detract from signing Blackman. I trust Antons plan so far.

Idiots moaning and yet it's these type of players that have got us to the Premier League twice in that last 7 or so years.

He looks like he's actually capable of scoring goals so there's an improvement on Church for starters...I'm open-minded on this one. We need more at left back and in midfield though.

Palace now in for Boyd from Peterboro, so they may have given up on Blackman

Well he turned them down so you'd hope they would.

Not half as dumb as those idiots who still can't see that those type of players aren't capable of keeping us in the Premier League! How many years do you want to wait for the next 'bounce back'?

Sheff Utd were dire and not one player stood out, other than for being tall and useless. Someone made the point that Blackman was as good as ALF that day. Not sure that he was but if ALF played like that every game he wouldn't deserve a starting place. We need to sign better than we've got, not yet another 'hope for the future' like Williams and Moody!

By all accounts Mick Gooding really rated him on Radio Berks. Have you ever thought that Reading might love to sign better players but just may be there could be many clubs fighting for their signatures. I think that Tom Ince is a good indication that we are looking to better ourselves.
