Rev Algenon Stickleback H the strange thing in all this, despite the clear evidence that a lot of people do want to stand, is the truly pathetic number of signatures on the official e-petition.

Maybe people just don't understand how these things work, but they clearly see no point in signing it.

Sadly part of the mentality of English supporters is that so many feel that their game has been taken away from them for so long and they are so disenfranchised that they don't think they can affect any change.

Compare and contrast with Germany, where fans of ALL clubs have cooperated in a massive 12:12 protest against changes to the way they watch matches specifically regarding flares (throwing them, not wearing them!) http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2012/dec/02/ermany-bundesliga-noisy-fans

But there's something about the acceptance that "that's just the the way it is" and "there's nothing we can do about it" here that is wrong, if only people realised it.

Alexander Litvinenko
AthleticoSpizz good work

But one would assume that there is an "anti-standing" petition going on somewhere with the same enthusiastic campaigning?

The ying needs a yang

Without it, yours would be a very one sided and pointless thing....and possibly, yet perpetually poo poohed many times for that reason alone.

Nope - because the actual supporters who are against a trial are very few, over 90% of supporters favour safe-standing (see various surveys) because they can see the benefits for themselves even if they'd never use such an area themselves.

The opponents are those who hold power and like the status quo - in some ways its the same mentality as those who wanted ID cards for supporters in the 80s, those who bracket all supporters as a bunch of yobs who will damn well get what they're given despite what they actually want.

Plus, of course, those who benefit from football being a gentrified pastime for the monies middle-classes only.
I was being deliberately naive (to force the answers I wanted to hear), but you get my point I hope.

Good luck, keep plugging away

Stewards lenient in Y25/26 once again, great to see. Majority standing without any hassle. Adds to the atmosphere, was top form in there today.

I hope it stays like that with years to come. However, I think no one was sitting down at the front yesterday due to their seats being soaked from the rain.

Just looking at the O2 FAQS. Just to remind people that this is a 20,000 capacity arena with a good few thousand on the floor level which is seating.

This is their official policy:

Can I stand up and dance?

Yes, at most events you are allowed to stand within the confines of your seat during an event. However, please note that standing on seats, in walkways, stairways, gangways and aisles or climbing any fencing or other structure is strictly prohibited. So is crowd surfing and "moshing" in the standing area.

I have tickets for floor seats and am concerned I will not be able to see.

Floor seating is arranged on the flat floor area and is not tiered. This may not be suitable for those of shorter stature, especially if audience members in front of you choose to stand up.

I am confused about St Pauli. I thought they were strongly anti-racist, yet I have been in their pub and there are loads of skinheads and white power stickers..

I'm assuming you mean these guys drinking in the Jolly Roger bar:

They are 'SHARP' skinheads, for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinheads_ ... _Prejudice

As for the 'white pride' stickers, this could either be scarfs 'borrowed' off of far right fans by the above pictured individuals on away days, or these stickers:

To someone like yourself that may seem like a white pride sticker, and it is somewhat ambiguous in it's meaning to the untrained eye. It doesn't mean 'good night, we love white pride' but 'good night white pride, because we've kicked you in the head'. Any German football fan/politically aware person knows what it means. The far right version is 'good night left side'.

Ideal So, violence is acceptable as long as it's against people you don't like...

Very well then.

Look forward to the day when that comes back to bite you in the arse..

Remind me when the last time was anti fascists went on a murderous child killing shooting spree?

Maybe if a few more of your disgusting Norwegian fascist ilk had been kicked into comas a few less kids would be dead.

Prick.

Blimey, the Millerntor is looking fairly slick compared to when I visited. Where's the Hells Bells by AC/DC? Hope that hasn't changed as well.

That's still all there. Yeah it's looking like a proper ground now, only disadvantage being it's probably a lot harder to climb into the ground without paying, something my housemate did pretty regularly when I was there in 05/06.

Genuine question regarding the 'Give us a goal' banner being displayed across the stand. Why is it written in English? I can't imagine someone turning up to the Mongstad with a massive banner written in German.

Having been acquainted with the 'skinhead' scene for a number of years, always found the “anti-fascists” just as bigoted, self-riotous, and annoying as the neo-nazi lot. Luckily for the most part in London the skins are apolitical and any such nonsense isn’t tolerated.

Also both the Antifa and Nazi skinheads never get the 'look' quite right, and have ugly girlfriends. (if they even have girlfriends, which is rare)

Just as bigoted?

You mean, as well as beating up Nazi skins they also P*ki bash and pogo on gays?

Dislike their self righteousness, and their style by all means, but to say they're all as bad as each other from a bigotry point of view is liberal oxf*rd.

Ideal St Pauli, don't dodge the question: are you saying violence is ok if it is against people you don't like?

Some day there might be someone who doesn't like you, think about it.

1) Er yeah. Lots of people, countries, governments throughout history have thought its OK. That's kind of what WW2 was all about, yeah? Or are you a pacifist now?

2) Don't need lessons in thinking from someone as utterly retarded and utterly unable to self reflect as yourself, but yes that had crossed my mind, but I'm not sure what your point is? Most of the kids Anders Breivik killed didn't believe in using violence, didn't stop them getting killed.

They don't just beat up/hassle Nazis though do they. All and sundry are "fascists" in the eyes of those loons. They also seem to have an unhealthy fascination with the IRA, Basque separatism, and Palestine, causes not commonly associated with opposing Nazis. If you disagree with them then you are a “fascist”.

And yes I am happy to be called a Liberal.
