Niko Lewington may have been at the Mad Stad tonight for Cahill, Terry, Lamps etc., but Alfie surely stole the show.
Call up status: IMMINENT

Until he can produce that for for the entire 90 minutes, then I doubt it. Whenever he has started he has not had the same impact.

SCIAGG'La Where do you think Le Fondre stands in the England Selection scheme of things? Rooney, Welbeck, Defoe and Sturridge perhaps ahead of him at the moment???
Perhaps? Would say they're all miles ahead of him tbh.
He's competing with the likes of Holt, Lambert and Hooper for a spot in case one of those loses form or gets injured.
Oh, and Crouch.

howser We might be unfashionable Reading, in England International selection circles, but quite simply if he keeps on scoring then he will have to be considered, he has scored regularly whatever division he has been in also his goals arn't 2 yard tap ins, in particular his winner at Newcastle and his 2 against Chelsea were as good as you will see, second highest Englishman in the Premiership scoring charts, his record speeks for itself. Additionally of course England arn't exactly overflowing with instinctive goalscorers.
There are arguments that Lambert and Holt, from the lower league originality ilk, are considered to be ahead of him, but they are a different type of smash and grab strikers, Le Fondre is a sniffer, looking for the loose ball around the penalty area, AND A complete striker, right or left foot, and a good header of the ball.
Can he cut it at an international level ? well many doubted he would be any good at Premiership level and he is soundly putting that one to bed, so come on Roy give the lad a chance, you have absolutely nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

He is better than a goal every 180 minutes when starting in the prem, and a goal every two games
is usually the benchmark for a very good striker.
Starts
90 1 Stoke
90 0 Sunderland
90 0 WBA
81 2 Everton
90 0 Wigan
90 0 Villa
90 1 Man Utd
90 0 Saints
711 Minutes, 4 Goals and those in a struggling, relegation-threatened side with little creativity.
