Big Ern
TBM
Both, but did he throw a spaz attack again?

Not this week - sounded like he didnt know it went in

Has somebody told him yet?[/quote]

As it was headed in I think he thought it was Pearce at first, he couldn't believe it was Kebe :D

TBM Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann on Final Score:
"It is a momentum thing when you keep scoring late, but you cannot forget Reading were also dropping points at the death in previous games"

:? Maybe i'm having memory issues here but what games have we lost by late goals?

Chelsea A - 81, 90
West Brom - 71
Newcastle H - 83
Swansea A - 71, 78
Fulham H - 77, 88 - although we scored a couple late ourselves to rescue a point.
Wigan A - 90
Villa A - 80
Man City A - 90

Of those only 2 are "at the death" - ie last 5mins
(Fulham we came back so didnt throw it away)

And the Chelsea goal was when Federici came up for the corner.

Ratings:

Feds 8- some great saves
Kelly 7- not sold on him, but he made up for a few positioning errors with some good tackles.
Pearce 8- read the game fantastically, I wish I'd counted every time he intercepted a pass bound for Fletcher
Mariappa 7- also contributed to a solid defensive performance and hit the bar, but Pearce was the defender we needed today.
Harte 6.5- got caught out a few times, and his delivery wasn't reliable
Legs 7- some sloppy passing, but defended well and shook off opposition when on the ball
Akpan 7.5- not perfect by any means, but always looked for the forward pass and more of a goal threat than Legs/Karacan
McAnuff 8- excellent. I groaned when I realised he was playing centrally but he made me look like a fool. Brilliant movement for first goal.
Kebe 8- also excellent, two goals, the first of which was very well taken.
McCleary 7.5- nice to see him run at his man with such success. His end product could do with a bit of work.
Pog 7- less isolated than usual due to presence of McCleary and Akpan. Worked v. hard, won headers.

Would maybe like to see Guthrie or Carrico come in for Legs. Hope McAnuff and McCleary sustain their form.

Mariappa was by far the MOM today a quality performance - quick, good headers away and his positional sense was second to none

Ratings the other way around for me. There's something very 2010 about Pearce's current inability to stay calm and pick a pass. Even given time he often went for the hoof - appreciate this may in part be game plan, but he seemed to either rush an up and under into the Sunderland half, or whack it out to the wing despite having an option in midfield.

Not getting at Feds at all, but what is his record on saving penalties?

Just today - watching him get a half-palm to the successful penalty, it just looked, very, very familiar. Might be my memory playing tricks on me, but doesn't he often guess right, but concede anyway?

It's not great as far as I remember, but if it's a well struck penalty guessing right doesn't really matter.

The pen today was quality - doubt any keeper would have saved it

And so do SKY, 26 games played too, have I been asleep for a week?
