Albert Spangler Anyway, yeah, they'll do it this time. It's the change to red that's done it. There was a study a couple of years ago that showed that, in all sports (not just football or English football), teams that played in red were statistically more successful than any other individual colour.

I'd cite it properly but that precis should do it.

Yeah, there was also (possibly the same) some study about how it worked with red generally encouraging certain emotions or state of mind maybe... i can't recall the details.

What proportion of clubs play in red though? Compared to Blue, White, Yellow etc. And what about multi-coloured kits?

I'll level with you, "I'd cite it but..." was my polite way of saying that I really couldn't be bothered.

Will Cardiff fans forgive their Malaysian moneymen for changing the home shirt to red if they manage to buy the team's way into the Prem?

Royal With Cheese Not happy with over 10% of the English Premier League being Welsh next season.

What are you going to do about it?

Have you particularly minded them being in the football league all this time, or is there something special about the premier league?

Why not? It's historical accident and ha s been around for the best part of a century. To object now just sounds like small-minded, petty nationalism.

TBF I've always objected. So's my dad his father before him. As he was born in 1868 I don't think it's an unreasonable stance to take.

I say this as an Englishman married to a Belfast woman for 28 years, but do you think any of the Norn Irish object to you plying your profession over there, despite it not being your country of origin? Their objections may be deemed historical and long-standing as well. Apologies if you are not English or don't live over there any more...

There's absolutely no parallel with this but no, I've had no problems from either side.

I don't agree with Welsh teams being in the Premier League. Just like I wouldn't agree with either Celtic or Rangers joining the EPL or Real Madrid or PSG or Barcelona or any teams that aren't English.

Why don't you agree with it? Swansea joined the football league in 1921 - they were originally part of the Welsh southern league, but this fell apart after the first world war for lack of funding.

It's nothing to do with finance.

Because they're not an English team.

Listen folks, there's no point in trying to argue a case. I'm not even willing to entertain the idea. Don't waste your time on my bigoted viewpoint. I'll fully admit it's bigoted. Time to move on.....

I've no problem with Swansea or Cardiff playing in the English leagues, I do however have a problem with them still being controlled by the FAW whilst doing so.

I thought that had been stopped, but all I can find is a Grauniad article from 2011 saying it was going to be. Can't find anything that says it actually has happened, so it's still a complete nonsense.

I have no problem with the Welsh teams being in the English league system as long as they come soley under the jurisdiction of the English FA. It's a quirk of history that cannot be repeated.

It's no different to Berwick playing in Scotland or pre Miles Brookson Gretna playing in the NPL. They were in an appropriate league for their ability.

Here in Canada they call it the BPL...

But that is for Barclay's Premier League :P

I call it the EPL. The Canadian's are a strange bunch.

It's the Premier League.

La Liga isn't Espania La Liga, or Spanish La Liga
The Bundasliga isn't the Deutsh Bundasliga or the German Bundasliga.
Ligue 1 isn't La Francais Ligue 1, or The French Ligue 1.
Serie A isn't Italia Serie A, or The Italian Serie A

There's a Scottish Premier League, because you have to put the name of the country in it so people know they have a league. It's unnecessary with the English top flight given it's in the top five top flight leagues in Europe, if not the world.

Swansea in a cup final, Cardiff seemingly joining them in the PL, Wrexham joint top of the conference with Newport in 4th with a game in hand that if won would send them top.

Could be some season for Welsh football
