I just hope aesthetically the final product is as nice as the plans we had drawn up for the extension originally.

I can't see the plans being the same.
Reckon that TSI will adjust the expansion to include more corporate hospitality. Boxes.

It's weird to think our highest attendance was at elm park, 33 odd thousand

I actually hope they do change the plans and add a row of boxes at the top of the current East Stand. It makes financial sense, and would create a beast of a stand when it's finished with another 7000 on top.

The fancy idea of sloping roofs isn't my cup of tea either. It's actually a waste of space if we wanted to maximise what available space there is to expand the stadium. Just expand straight back. Later we can do the same behind the goals if required, and then the corners if need be.

I'd also like to see provisioning for easy installation of safe standing...

I was amongst the 25,756 that saw us lose 2-1 to Arsenal in the Cup 1971-2. Don't recall it seeming particularly cramped - still managed to jump up and down when Barry Wagstaff scored at the right end!

Sparta are you suggesting something like this http://p.twimg.com/A064MjTCEAEIF0K.jpg:large because that would be pretty epic!

Do we have any photoshop gurus will to knocking their interpretation!

Is it me or does the Madstad feel bigger and more open than most stadiums. Because most neutrals I talk think it already holds 30,000

It's closer to the pitch than many new grounds, and has steep stands. Also the leg room is second to none. Any expansion on the back of those stands will make for quite a view.

Found these a few pages back, and there's a PDF out there for the initial stadium design.

If you go the planning portal on RBCs website they have all the technical drawings there in the planning application. The East stand just gets extended back with no step with provision at the top for the media. I really like the look of the design as just one tier.

Anton on the plans toextend the stadium...

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... e_planning

I like what he's saying, italso makes sense from a commercial point of view. He says their going to reconsider the plans submitted five years ago in order to take advantage of new building techniques. They would like to add another row of boxes to the east stand as a means to maximise revenues from the space, this would be the first stand extended with the ends being done (presumably) the following year.

The expansion can fuck off. Having a prawn sandwich section across the middle of the East stand will kill any remaining atmosphere we have.

Royal Lady But I thought AZ said we'd start expansion at the end of this season, if we stayed up? If we started it this Summer, we wouldn't need to reapply for planning permission. Why the change of heart I wonder?

Given we looked like guaranteed relegation material a month and a half ago, even if they had genuinely planned that in the summer, it would surely have been shelved. There's no way you can get the ball rolling on something like this in a few months when it looked like it wouldn't be possible to do it 6 weeks ago.

THIS THIS THIS.

AZ states the design spec and planning permission have lapsed. Stick an extension on the corporate in the North Stand, and extend to the North East Corner. Made the East Stand one continuous stand with no split level.

I thought it elapsed in November this year?

Have we any planners in the Nob community?

Planning laws in NI are similar but not exaclty the same. Here you have two years from permission being granted to start a development. Once work has begun on the foundations there is no limit on how long it can take.

Are there rules in GB on how long you have to complete a project?

I'm hoping that Anton's vision for the ground is somewhat grander than Madejski's and this is why they want to reapply for planning permission.

Stick up two video screens from the rook and open up those seats while we are at it. All i understand from the press release is that other technology will be bought into use should the green light be given. I expect a huge factor on this is the development of the local area for transportation as even with the current levels of support - the roads are struggling. Sort out some bloody alternative drinking holes near the ground please!!!!
