Royal Rother As reported previously (I was there) it was an Uxbridge player (Chris Owens) with the serious injury, not Aylesbury.

... sorry - must've misread a brief report from elsewhere - game similarly abandoned in the same division - albeit beyond the hour mark involving Royston and Rugby.

Four Of Clubs Saturday 16th Feb 2013
FA Carlsberg Vase – 5th Round
2 Ascot United 2-2 aet Newport IoW – FT 2-2 att 474- Ascot down to 10 men from 1st half; equalised in stoppage time – replay now this Tuesday at ASCOT KO 19:45

Fantastic performance from the Yellaman.

It was technically Newport v Ascot United at Ascot as it was a Newport home game due their request to play at Ascot while their pitch is out of action. The Tuesday replay will be the Ascot United home game. Getting the draw after playing with 10 men for 90 minutes (inc extra time) was a great result especially after travelling all the way to the Isle of Wight last weekend.

I do recommend the replay on Tuesday.

If I was in the area I would certainly head down there as it is a nice set up if a bit too modern for my old fashioned liking. Good to see a local side doing well in a national competition.

Diddy were crap on Saturday but got a last min equaliser to keep faint playoff chances alive, need a couple of the injured lads back as there is no depth in the squad really especially up front.

.. fair number of games on this midweek of local interest - its Half-Term too so I'm attempting (at least 8) ) a triple:

Monday B&B Cup S-F - Beaconsfield SYCOB v MK Dons XI

... but I'm taking advantage of a generous ST deal @ Grosvenor Gardens (half-price entry on presentation of any other clubs ST - apart from the opponents of course) for:

Ryman Premier - Wealdstone v Lewes

Tuesday as well as the aforementioned Vase replay at Ascot - which I might try and squeeze into - there's :

SOUTH1C Sluff v North Greenford & Burnham v Chertsey
CCLP Ash v Cove
CCLP Sandhurst v Badshot Lea
HELL1E Bracknell v Chinnor
HELLP Abingdon Town v RTFC - better check Culham Rd has appeared above the Thames by now :?

Cup games also @
Alton v Hungerford
Fleet Town v Whitchurch
.. and the other B&B Cup S-F: Chesham v Maidenhead Utd

WednesdaySOUTH1C Guildford v Aylesbury
HELLP Oxford City Nomads v Marlow - probably doing this one... :)

Thursday
CCLP Hartley Wintney v Colliers Wood

Four Of Clubs Windsor 3-3 Cove - was surprised by the result at first ... but actually Cove are having a very good 12-13 and are not far off the leaders themselves back in 5th. Finished mid-table last season after an horrendous spell which contributed mostly, to them conceding over 100 goals - plenty of 7's and 6's against (aggregate 1-14 v Windsor) - only Banstead who were last and relegated had a leakier defence.

Another win for Cove last night too, this time 3-0 away to Ash to put them 4th - 1 point behind Windsor in 3rd with 3 games in hand.

Deserved win for Ascot last night at a rather chilly Racecourse Ground. Bovril served in proper china mugs helped alleviate the cold slightly. My first visit there and despite the cold evening it had a much warmer feel about the club than Reading Town. Then again the large crowd and the occasion probably helped that perception.

The club appears to be very well marketed and the programme said they are supported by 46 businesses who provide various forms of sponsorship and are run by over 100 volunteers. As for the team I thought they looked pretty decent last night and much better than their league position suggests. I'm surprised they are not higher in the table on that showing.

Northern League clubs seem to have a good record in the Vase so it sounds like a tough quarter final for Ascot away at Shildon.

Regarding Guernsey FC
Royal Rother Usually a club would take say 24 players and officials so, because they pay to get to mainland and for visitors to come to the island one might assume that, combined, the travel (incl coach to the ground), food and overnight accommodation costs would average out at £250 per person involved in every game Guernsey play...?

For weekend games they try to avoid overnight stays by playing in the early afternoon, giving themselves or the visiting team enough time to get the late flight in the evening. Hasn't helped a lot this season with the horrendous fixture pile up (they've STILL only played 17 of 42 league fixtures, and the Raynes Park game was called off last Saturday).

Some of the clubs in the CCL have played 12 more league fixtures than Guernsey have. They've currently got 12 fixtures scheduled for March, including home to Epsom & Ewell on the 1st, away to Runcorn or Walsall Wood on the 2nd in the Vase, and then home again to Cove on the 3rd. The league games will probably move, but they're running out of dates.

They're sixth in the table, 17 points behind the leaders, but with 10 games in hand!

Envy from UNITED'S pub-league neighbours. Royalist can expect a visit from the #mms and then we won't be seeing him for a LONG time 8)

Blimey - you STILL trying to get a rise out of Windsor fans?

You are in a higher league than us, with more supporters and you haven't gone bust. Well done.

Can we move on now?

Blimey :|

It's just an, "aren't you bored with this yet, I am", yawn really.

We need a yawn emoticon I suppose.

Anyway, went to Windsor U18 v Slough U18 cup match on Wednesday night. Not a great game but both teams tried to play football on the floor which was good. What was even better was the fact that Windsor won 2-1 with a last minute goal after an "after you, no after you" disaster between goalkeeper and defender.

Only a couple of the Windsor team had featured in the 1st team earlier in the season when we were having to play all manner of youngsters.

Got to larf at Rother really. When Maidenhead were relegated (before being reinst8ted as a result of being one of the better run clubs in the division, take note Windsor 8) ) you were all over it, trying to get a rise. Then when I give some (admittedly lame) banter which was mainly for the (in-joke) benefit of some who read this thread regularly, you lose the head

Seriously? Good grief, we went through all this false memory syndrome shit of yours a year ago. I haven't given out anything over Maidenhead at all. Yes, I referred to their poor form at times, and the fact they had been flirting with relegation at times, in exactly the same way I might mention Aston Villa's poor form, or Peterborough's.

I watch their results because they are very local but Maidenhead mean nothing to me, either way.

If you think that's "losing the head" you must be even more sensitive than I am.

I'm not going to indulge you by traipsing through this thread but you enjoyed a (short-lived) laugh at Maidenhead's expense, mainly due to the fact that I follow them I strongly suspect. Your obsession with me must be into about its seventh year now m8!
