Is the next game a 6-pointer?

by redscot » 25 Feb 2013 10:05

Reading won the Everton game at home. Will they win the return leg? Not sure what a 6-pointer is, but surly if Wigan can do it, then so can regulated threaten Reading too!
P.S. By the by, I did not add the last option....

I voted "no", but in hindsight, the last option was probably the most pertinent.

What on earth are you talking about, playing any of the relegation threatened teams will be 6pointers but playing a team challenging for Europe is in no way a 6pointer

You open yourself to ridicule on this site by stating no knowledge of what a 6 pointer means, 'surly' means dismal, you meant 'surely' and we're not threatened with regulation, but relegation. Didn't schools start back from the break today!

Everton are not fighting relegation so it's not a six pointer.

I agree with pepe the findusman, it is a 0 pointer.

No.

I enjoyed "regulated" Reading, though. Nice work.

Fair play my English is not that good. (I use spell checker and sometimes guess what word to use. Not my fault I get a selection of words to use...)
I did however live near a "mad" house in Tilehurst. Watching the "idiots" play football was most enjoyable. They would kick the ball in any direction and shout when they managed to kick the ball. Total madness as they would chase balls all over the field and even down slopes.

Redeemed yourself, however while a regulated 8/10 for the English, it's a surly 1/10 for the political correctness :D

No game is a 6-pointer, as you can only get 3 points from winning a match.

And ensuring your close rival doesn't also score 3 points? Net gain of 6.

I think we should be awarded 6-points for all of our wins the rest of the season.

No, you gain 3, you ensure they gain 0. That's +3, not +6. You don't gain 6 points from anything. It's a stupid cliche.

Have to resort to alcohol to get me through the game now.

No it's not, it signifies the additional significance of a game against your rivals.

No it isn't, the swing in terms of league positions is 6 points, if we'd won on Saturday we'd of been 5 points ahead of Wigan, as it is we're 1 point behind, simples

It's not even a cliche

Whilst you are perfectly correct SF, the stupid thing is that is true of every game played at every level of league football.

Every game is a six pointer on that basis:
Say we are 25 points behind Man Utd - we win and we go 22 points behind, we lose and are 28 points behind - that's a "six pointer" on the basis of how the term came into being!
