BR2 Quite prepared to be proven wrong in the future but I don't think he is actually that good.
As I see it he gets brushed aside fairly easily (Fellaini,Jerome etc.) and he lacks pace although to his credit he does look to be an organiser although that is difficult to judge because of playing in the second worst defence in the Premier League.
His head appears to have been turned by being called up by a 3rd rate international side, one that Ian Harte thinks he should be playing for which says it all really.
Just because he grits his teeth and does the fist waving at the end of a game seems to have convinced people that he is Reading-till-he-dies whereas he is probably just your normal greedy self-interested modern day footballer.
The club obviously doesn't rate him as highly as he rates himself so let him go to Millwall or Ipswich and let us "move on".

melonhead hes not signed a contract all season.
during this period he has been played for periods, and not played for periods.
therefore there is no correlation between not signing, and not playing.
literally. i have actually done the statistical tests

BraisingsteakRoyal Just throwing this out there - better or worse than Matt Mills at the same age?

Better attitude.
Similar passion for the game / better for the club.
Better 'leadership' and organisation of the back four. Less blaming of others.
Worse pace.
Better decision making.
Not quite as strong in the last gasp tackle.
Slightly better passing
Similar (maybe slightly less) of a threat from set pieces.
Not a huge amount in it, apart from the fact Mills was a dick. If he hadn't severed relationships with the fans and his development had continued (head appears completely gone) I'd have him back alongside Mariappa.

That's a very good assessment, although i'd put Pearce slightly ahead on the threat from set pieces.

LightwaterRoyal I loved Matt Mills, the bullet header and clearance off the line against Leicester summed him up for me.

TBM You can see why he doesn't want to sign a new deal

A Prem club or one coming up to the Prem at end of season will snap him up. Mark my words. And I don't blame him. This club has had no real ambition this season, despite the sound bites thrown at us. We didn't spend properly with whatever money we had and we've paid the price.
