Likewise, we could have also gone to Fergie and offered to buy RVP - the deal would never ever stand a chance of going through. It always was going to be a very long shot and to leave it right until the death, with no time remaining to implement plan b (I doubt they'd even got one, mind you) was absurd. No doubt some will claim we had been working on it throughout the window but it didn't sound like it from what McDermott had said just a day or so before the window closed.

Seem to remember that there were some on here moaning that the club weren't active earlier on in the transfer window. As usual they were quickly shot down by the club apologists/RTGs who kept saying there was plenty of time. There clearly wasn't.
