Thank you Brian!

A MASSIVE tribute to a man who now ranks alongside Steve Coppell as my hero.

Thanks for saving us from relegation to League 1,
Thanks for two FA Cup quarter finals
Thanks for getting us to the playoff final in the face of your players being sold
and thanks most of all, for an incredible Championship title.

and sorry, so sorry, for the audible minority and crazy Russian owner

Suddenly feel very sad, great guy. Never wanted him to leave and thought he'd be the first to bring us back up to the prem next season. I dont entirely disagree with the decision but surely do it at the end of the season if your gunna do it?

Great man, thanks for the memories brian

Genuinely shocked. It was only a few weeks ago I was posting in his appreciation thread after winning Manager of the Month.

Thanks for being a brilliant manager of an underdog. When it looked like the task ahead was impossible you were brilliant. Winning the league last year with those away days at West Ham and Saints, the win at Liverpool and two FA Cup quarter finals. But when we needed it in a must win game or when the task looked easy you lacked that touch that would have made you a great manager, the playoff final, games against teams around us this season and the first half of last season.

Thanks for the memories Brian and I wish you the best of luck

Gutted for you Brian.

A good man who deserved better.

Thanks for the wildly unfeasible success of the last two years, and best of luck.

Must be the quickest sacking after a MOTM award...? Surely?

I did feel we needed a change, and of course now I feel very bad, I never thought Anton would actually do it.

Brilliant man, brilliant manager, this will only make him better. Good luck to you good sir! May you find a better job than at this disturbing club.

I honestly don't think anybody could have done a better job at Reading since he took over. Ultimately a victim of his own success and should be held in exactly the same esteem as people like Steve Coppell.

My favourite RFC manager in the last 25 years.

Thanks Brian.

You did a fantastic job mastering the Championship with no league management experience. It was a work of wonder turning around a clueless underachieving squad to finish 9th. It was a super achievement to make the Play Off Final. It was absolutely staggering managing to finish 1st in what looked like it would be a two horse race that didn't include us. You absolutely rank amontgst the best managers we've had - Evans, McGhee, Pardew, Coppell and McDermott.

Thank you for all the good times and I'm sorry it hasn't worked out. Nothing's gone right this season and if only a few things had and we'd been consistently hovering a couple of places higher in the league, you'd have been guaranteed a job until December 2013. We just fell short.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get a decent job elsewhere and prove you're not a one club pony. Hope you can reflect on what's been good and what didn't work help it make you more successful still.

Reading Legend.

Was just going to say that he is probably my favourite RFC manager since I have been going (late 80's)

+2. Had a beer with him once and he was just a thoroughly decent bloke. Hope the mongtards who booed him on Saturday are happy now.
