Idiot... Anton is only doing what any boss would do. It's who he gets in that defines him. If its PDC I fear for him. If its RDM he may have a shrine erected for him in a few years!

Anton has done the right thing for the club today, football management is a brutal occupation fail and you are out, this season McDermott has failed and so rightfully he has gone, Reading are a football club not a nursery school to pick and pamper your favourite players just coz their face fits, his only mistake was not to walk away after Saturday's debacle

This.

Anton has been more than patient, the only question mark over Anton is what funds were made available during the transfer windows. The jury is still out on Anton, however todays actions were a step in the right direection, and sadly, what was needed. He now has a chance to make his own appointment and that may well indicate his abilities as well as his ambitions as Chairman of the club.

One thing has defined this clubs extended run of success. It's something many of the above posters lack. It's something Reading FC has always had in droves. It's the one thing that has made this club different to ALL of our competition, and it is the one thing which has always allowed us to reap the benefits - at least in the longer term.

INTEGRITY

All of it, has completely evaporated today.

AZ wouldn't have had the final say on this........Mr Mad is still chairman until September and we have a board of directors.

Excuse me, but let's try to keep this board as democratic as possible, hence the large amount of polls. I'm sorry to inform you but your vote is actually only worth +1 and not "+1,000,000"unless you're a billionaire

Errr.... Did we sack Mark McGhee?
Or Alan Pardew?
We didn't even sack Steve Coppell.

So no - we don't. We show respect and integrity to those who bring us success. This has not happened to Brian McDermott, and he has every right to be severely pissed off with it. As do I.

I don't give a toss about the other spivs on here trying to be flavour of the month (didn't hear ya when BM won MOTM) and chipping in with your jibes.

This was a shocking decision, if not for the intention, but the timing and the manner of it. Those who believe BM is culpable for us being in this position are right. WE ARE IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!

My god, if it wasn't for the fantastic efforts over previous seasons of a team operating under a man with no league management experience we would be nowhere. However, we are somewhere, and we are only going to get back here by continuing the success that we have experienced in (relatively) recent years. BM has experienced promotion from the championship, which is most unlikely in any successor, other than the one he beat to the title last season...

Anyone who expects any more than the miracles they have observed from RFC over the previous 8 years need to wind their necks in and remember who we are and where we have come from. Or alternatively if you can't deal with supporting your local club because they are not bling enough - Stamford Bridge is an hour away.

Utterly gobsmacked by the backwardness of our inbred fans, and disappointed we have Swindon fans on BBC Sport with +20 likes on their comments about how pathetic our club has become.

#laughingstock - and yes, I mean you.
