TBM Not at all but those saying "we can't have Di Canio cos he's a fascist" is a stupid reason - if they said "we can't have Di Canio cos he's a shit manager" then i could understand.

How about "We can't have Di Canio because his personality and public persona doesn't fit with the club ethos"? Regardless of his technical coaching skills (which are entirely unproven at this level), if he isn't the right fit for the club then it would be a disaster to appoint him. Like it or not, we are a family-friendly club sponsored by a middle-class grocery chain in a relatively affluent area of the Thames Valley. Does Di Canio fit the requirements to manage our club? I don't think so.

Right, you might not see any different between Pardew and Di Canio but that doesn't actually mean that anyone who does is a hypocrite, does it?

Yes, but in these days of intense media exposure, the manager is seen as a sort-of ambassador of the club. He's the face that th epress and fans of other clubs see and it forms the opinions others have of our club. To some extent, it also forms those opinion in the heads of our fans.
Di Canio is a nut-job, as well as being a fascist. If for example he dropped (say) Leigertwood would we be sure that he did it for football reasons, or would it be for racial-cleansing reasons (like that black French bloke he dropped)?
I'd have had him as a player, cos he was brilliant. As everyone expects footballers to be as thick as pigshit, it wouldn't matter so much about his ideological beliefs.

If we just wanted promotion to the Prem then we would've kept McDermott. The aim is to gain promotion and then stay there.

So you seriously cannot understand how anyone would have a problem with their football club being headed by someone who publicly celebrates an ally of Hitler?

Fair fvcks if you don't agree, each to their own, but to say it's stupid and that the only criteria is previous success in the role is a naff attitude.

Can we not want Di Canio because he's clearly a bellend, regardless of his political beliefs?

the question was:

warnock or dicanio

the answer to which is warnock all day long.

if you want to add it other variables and additions, then obviously the answer would change

My answer would be neither, but fair enough.

You're alright yourself, though I'm a bit concerned that you NSFWify every HNA thread by your mere presence. Oh well, my job's shit anyway.

I was about to quote Blade Runner, but then I realized that I actually look a bit like young Rutger Hauer at the moment and ...

Would he be a decent choice? Yes.

Count me in too - Di Canio seems only interested in Di Canio based on his Swindon record. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21496692 His management experience is one year with Swindon in the second division and six months in division two! We must be able to do better.

I'd rather have Nick Griffin than a former Scumdon manager!
