72 bus Get him in

I agree. Work will set us free.

Libertine Like I said on another thread...there are many similarities between Russian oligarchs and Italian fascists, namely being completely ruthless result oriented type of people, so don't be surprised if he sufficiently impressed AZ to have got the job.

I am being paranoid, but I hope Anton's father does not have form with right wing circles. Maybe he was in P2.

We'll just become a complete laughing stock if we replace Brian with Di Canio. It just can't be allowed to happen.

Only if he turns out to be useless.

I'm sure Abramavitch would have employed Jimmy Saville if he thought he could have got them a European Cup winning team.

I am only too willing to be proved wrong, of course, but Di Canio does not strike me as the sort of manager who could turn us round instantly. Yes, he would have a galvanising effect and backsides would be resoundingly kicked, but lack of effort hasn't exactly been our problem. Di Canio would come up against the fact that when we pass the ball we do so more in hope than expectation--basically a "see if you can get on the end of that, mate," approach--and I don't see how he could turn our lot into precision passers over night.

On the other hand, I do not see why Di Canio could not build a decent championship team, with Anton's money in a mould of his own.

As already said, the success of any replacement will completely depend on their results in the long run.

We won't be if he starts winning. His record is impressive.

Barney Ronay With new managers clubs do tend to swing to extremes. Replacing the nicest man in football with a fascist surely taking this a bit literally

'Greed. Tbh, I will be happy with any manager who gets us playing entertaining football on the front foot and shows passion for the club. If Di Canio can be that guy (and his record suggests he may be) then I for one would welcome him. I can understand the reservations some may have about his character, but for me life is just way too short to be worrying about political correctness when it comes to a football manager.

Are you truly a complete Moron?

Oh Siege, I quoted somebody else's comment because I thought it would be of interest to you. Have I erred, you closet queer?

For your part, you rancid old fool, why wade into a debate complaining about misrepresentation when just a momentary google search - or a skim read of this thread - would inform you that Di Canio has more than once performed the fascist salute in public, bears a tattoo in honour of Mussolini on his arm and - psst, this one's the giveaway - refers to himself as a fascist?

"Words and actions that can be misrepresented as fascist." ALOL!

As a Royals supporter who has lived in Swindon for a number of years, I watched with interest how Paulo Di Canio managed Swindon. You cannot argue that he has passion and commitment and he expects the same from his players. The problem with Di Canio was that he thought he was bigger than the club. He amassed a very large squad to achieve his success, far too big for a League One club like Swindon to afford and yet he was never happy and always wanted more players. You saw what happened to Swindon. The investors started to pull the plug on the funds and ended up selling out. I would not want him to do the same at Reading unless AZ is prepared to bankroll him. I think he would be totally wrong for the Royals. I still think they should have stuck by BM. He did not have much hope with the limited funds he was given and I doubt Ferguson or Mourinhio would have done much better in similar circumstances.

Having mulled over it for a day I'm starting to think oxf*rd it lets get him in. Yes he is a nutjob but we need to transmit some bite onto the field. Our players were like Brian too nice.

Could he attract players, can he get us playing more attractive football, can he inject some bite and can he win us matches. I don't know but like all managers anything could happen.

Why not go for Poyet instead? Someone who has more experience and is not so much of a nut job. I think it won't be Di Canio at the end of the day.

Poyet would be a good candidate but there is no chance of him leaving Brighton. They could get up this year!

Try get him in as interim boss until summer then reassess, granted I can't see PDC accepting those terms

TheSiege Reply to Ouroboros (the worm).

'Fascist' is a term used by millions of decent people 70 years ago in the same way that we would use the term 'Socialist' now. This is why Governments at the time were elected. As is usual in Politics, the term disguised Dictatorship just as 'Communist' does. Many people, even now, believe that a political view was good whilst the people who came to power under that banner then betrayed it. In the case of Italy, Mussolini had a huge following and basically lost the plot when he was seduced by Hitler. It is not in any way abnormal for Italians to look back to a time when they appeared to be real Movers and Shakers with a real place in the World. Di Canio is a proud Italian and he has every right to look back on a history when he thinks that Italy had a real say in the World. BUT - He is not a sly Politicion!

n.b Britain used to be a main Slave-trading nation, invented Concentration Camps, believed that any new land found was English despite the obvious fact that people were already living there! We, of course, have a glorious unblemished past - because we won!

he's also a self aggrandising lunatic

I don't want an inexperienced facist who walks out on his club and racially abuses his players. Much better options are available like Adkins or RDM.

All fascists have got to start somewhere though, Poland, Swindon, you don't just become a great fascist overnight.
