LOLz - again, much as I loved Parky when he was here, he is NOT what we need here right now.

I think we should bring in a current national team manager initially until the end of the season while they've got nothing better to do. Someone like Louis Van Gaal or Ottmar Hitzfeld. Maybe we could use our Russian connections to get Capello :?:

Ideal Bring on Coppell&Downes! This "not interested" talk is just rubbish, none of you know that for sure.

Other than that, Paul Tisdale has had reasonable success at Exeter. Might bring that young goalscoring starlet he has with him, one "J. Cureton".

By coincidence Exeter v Bradford is the league two clash of the titans tomorrow!

Did a very good job at Colchester on a tiny budget and not doing disasterously at Bradford.

Don't think it would be that bad a choice

Did a terrible job at Hull though - has only really done well at lower league clubs.

But he will just get us playing "lower league football" - is that what we want?........then why not just stick with McD

Appointing Parky, should it happen, has got disaster written all over it.

Get Parky in. That would be great. I can't say I'm really that bothered by a big name or someone with a proven Premiership track record. We won't be here much longer.

At least with Parky following Bri the fans wouldn't turn on him quickly as they did with Rodgers following Coppell.

Saying that, not sure I see the reasoning behind sacking McDaddy and bringing in Parky. Hey ho, lets wait and see.

This poll would suggest otherwise:

2 world wars, 1 world cup Ok Adkins has a completely different style of play does he? Seems like an attacking style much like ours has been. I would hope that any decent manager would be able to make the most out of the players available. So you and Adkins bashers are looking for a manager who has the exact same style of play as us? The style tried, tested, and failed at this level with the players with have? Hell why don't we get Brian back. Very confusing.

Nothing at all confusing about wanting a man with a good record though. Rodgers btw had a nonsense record which is why I was one of the who hated his appointment. I was rather obvious he'd be clueless.

I actually want curbs so I have no attachment to Adkins joining, I'm just interested to see hear both views, but in my view I've not heard a single worthy argument against Adkins yet.

Agree with you on Adkins. I really don't see the point of bringing in a manager whose style of play didn't have much of an impact on the Premier League. We just sacked one of those FFS!

For me this is a chance for Anton to put his money where his mouth is and either appoint a proven and experienced manager (Di Matteo/Advocaat) or go for a good up and coming manager who will change our style of play (Poyet).

But Saints at least played good football - and were outside the relegation zone when Adkins got sacked.

Di Matteo isn't proven and experienced. He's had less than 3 seasons of management, one half of which was probably just letting the likes of Terry, Lampard, Cole and Drogba dictate what went on.

He'd make an interesting appointment as his West Brom team that went up was very good.

I wouldn't say Saints played good football, but they did have a better style than us. Not that it's much of a compliment to say that though!

Personally I think we need something different from the next manager at Reading rather than providing more of the same...

Based on these figures Poyet does not look any better than Brian Mcdermott and despite having spent a lot still hasn't achieved promotion to the PL, something Brian managed to do with little funds.

Between Di Matteo and Adkins, Adkins is vastly more experienced and not likely to run off to a big club at the first opportunity.

Matteo won't come anyway, no manager that has won the Champions league and FA cup is going to work in the championship for a small club with limited funds available.

PL W D L Win%

Adkins 439 224 87 128 51.03
Di Matteo 177 91 39 47 51.41
Poyet 183 81 54 48 44.26
Mcdermott 169 76 43 50 44.97

Anton, just pick up the phone, call Adkins, get him in and move on.

It'll be Adkins. We know we're doomed this season, and Adkins is the standout candidate to get us back up, and AZ will want that immediately. Anyone else will just be disappointing IMO, as we can't hope for anyone with any decent PL experience. The likes of Curbs can bog off.
