Thank YOU - Dolan - Thank YOU - Anton

by Thou Voice » 16 Mar 2013 19:55

Well after watching a season that has had as much fun as watching paint dry under Brain we finally saw a match on what we can be proud of, as well as the players...

...oh yes!

This is a message from all of us at HobNob, thanking Dolan and Anton for what they have done this week.

Looking back...

This Brian guy, kept saying WE MOVE ON and YES we did. Once Brian followed his own words and moved on ( should have been December TBH ), we actually played a game against the sooooon to be Champions of the League, and you know what - we looked pretty good.

Proud of the team - delighted for Dolan and glad that the previous efforts we had for management are gone. In fact, like we had a car park demo for Balding Guy V1 to stay, we should have had one for V2 to go.

Looking back, Anton should have brought the axe down earlier and we might have stayed here - that being said - if this is the kind of performance that Dolan brings, he should stay.

Do You See?

+1.

McDermott couldn't get Leigertwood playing decent football all season, and Lwood was one of McDermott's key players!
Dolan managed to get Leigertwood back to his best in just one game, against the best team in the League!

On one game? Against a united side on cruise control. No thanks, we need experience to get out of the championship Adkins has that and a CV to match. We need to move quickly before he's snapped up.

In fairness, the players have been under a massive and increasing amount of pressure and it's shown. Today there was essentially no pressure at all except to go out and do your best. We always do well at OT.

We can't risk next season on Dolan, but I was very impressed with the performance, and an uninjured Guthrie with his passing ability would be very useful for the remaining games.. Now go get Adkins!!!

Your joking right?

The sacking of Brian was disgusting, he was the guy who brought us up!! He has done well considering what he has been given this season i.e not a lot of money.

This 1 goal defeat was EXACTLY the same as the two other game verses United that Brian was in charge off...

Best football we've played in a long time - rather pleasing on the eye it has to be said, but with absolutely zero penetration.

Well done Dolan for getting his philosophy across to the players in such a short space of time, and well done the players for taking it on board.

But don't forget - we barely created a chance and still lost by one goal, same as we did under McDermott twice. But in both of those games we scored - 4 in total.

I prefer to watch the style of football we played today (one swallow and all that aside) but it's still the same end result.

Anyway, onwards and upwards eh?

He was given more money and/or the opportunity of it than any other manager has had. He chose not to spend it all/to stick with the players who got us up/to sign injured players/to sign players who didn't fit our style and then fall out with them/to sign players for the future rather than the present.

The style of play was far better today, we passed the ball far better and, as a consequence, kept possession far better.

The sacking of McDermott was a standard sacking whether in football or any other walk in life, he was underperforming and shown the exit door. Deal with it.

As for your analysis of this result versus previous games against United are you really unable to delve no further than scoreline??

Compared to the FA Cup match: our defence this time was much more solid against a stronger attack. Our midfield was 20 times better this time, probably only made about 20 successful passes in the FA Cup match. Our attack performance in this match was pretty much the same as before, we created barely anything in either but took 1 good chance in the FA cup match.

His sacking was long over-due! Look at todays performance. Passing football, composed, not panicked, we took the game to United when we could get forward, Leigertwood looked like a totally different player; most of them did! We wouldn't have got that with BM on the sidelines today! The team need the change, and it shows already. Much much better!

Sorry. Love BM, but he should have gone in December and we could well have saved ourselves, but not now.

On the way back and that's the happiest I've come out of a loss in a very long time. We were excellent for large patches, and there were times we were even making United look a little silly. Dolan was a breath of fresh air on the touchline, and the reception he got from the travelling fans at the end (after, notably, he forced the players over to applaud our efforts ala Brian at Palace a few years ago) was fully deserved.

Early days, but I've always thought Dolan would be an excellent replacement for Brian, and I've seen nothing to alter that opinion yet. He may not be a 'name' but he's done stunning work with the academy and clearly has a real passion for the game.

amen to that

Today was our first game in three against Man U that we didnt score....nor look much like scoring.

Todays praise means nothing when previous Man U matches are considered.
