FTR, I went to Basingstoke 2-0 Maidenhead. It was 2-0 ater 11 minutes. It was cold. Maidenhead were utterly awful and 'stoke deserved their win. They are managed by ex-RFC yoof Jason 'Eric' Bristow, assisted by Michael Gilkes. They have Ashley Bayes in goal and Alan Partridge's hero Tim Sills up top. Maiders have Richard Pacquette back for his 4th spell with the club, oLOLd boys netwoROFLk

Additional - the missis drove us to this, a round trip of around 100 miles

Oh you were cold eh?

At least you were watching a football match. And you could have a nice hot cuppa and a burger...

That was the night I broke down on the M4 and had to wait 3.5 hours for the RAC to come out. Now THAT was cold. :D

Royal Rother Oh dear oh dear. That will give Floyd some good ammo!!

You have to wonder why the players involved don't say they played in an earlier round in cases like this. Really is pub football mentality!

Christof Well, bearing in mind that the Arbour Vale plan was fully supported by the Council, included in the Local Plan, and was awaiting planning permission, there didn't seem to be any reason not to believe that it would get the go-ahead.

The crowds aren't great, averaging 230 (still the highest in the Division) and they won't go up until we either get out of the Division or get back into the town, so I'm sure that investment is a concern. Windsor again? Who knows, just feel that it's not sustainable long-term outside of the town unless they get a very good deal somewhere.

Yep seemed nailed on so guess there is no plan b and Slough will have to go back to the drawing board. Is it sensible for a homeless club with no new ground on the horizon to be looking at playing at any level higher than what you are currently in? I'm not sure.

Wonder if higher crowds at Windsor were more to do with no recession or its just an easier place to get to and gives you residents of Slough a chance to get on the right side of the river! :D

Crowds: if we went up, 230 average would be 15th in the Division, so by no means the lowest, and you'd hope that there would be a few more away (and home) fans appearing (normally about 10 away fans each game when I've been at Holloways).

Location/recession: good question, possibly bit of both, and being in a higher Div for some of their time. Don't live there myself (about an hour away) but Windsor is likely to be a lot closer to where most Slough fans live than Bec.

Anyway, Slough Council have stated that they "will defend our community and our plans to the hilt against uninformed government interference" - good luck to them.

They didn't, though - they played in different cup competitions, as far as I can tell from the report. Weird non-League rules.

... tbf not quite that straightforward even assuming non-league footballers have some iota of intelligence and understanding of the County Rulebook - or in this case Rulebooks  :

- the Flackwell Heath lad who is dual-registered with Harefield United of the Spartan South Mids Premier league, played in an earlier round of the MIDDLESEX FA County Senior Cup. Don't suppose anyone thought that would exclude him from a B&B Competition?
The Windsor lad - debatable but perhaps slightly more in error, 'cos its within the same FA sub-division, had already represented Chalfont St Peter in the Berks & Bucks Senior CUP - ie the County Competition (for STEP04 and above);

Registering for the the Senior TROPHY (open to entrants for STEP05 & possibly some STEP06 - not too sure of this - ie Bracknell Town are down in the 'Intermediate' version this season) has to be done in a certain timeframe (eg 10 day rule or summat) which presumably Windsor thought they were OK on - but that isn't of course the issue here.

Who'd be a Club Sec. ? :?

Not sure what the B&B FA will do - whatever it is I hope they do it soon - the 'Ducks' (Aylesbury Utd) fans want to play a final - they beat Ascot in the other semi - rather than get the Trophy by default. Especially now its been booked to take place at Amy Lane, Chesham =- one of their former homes.

I spose its not too much of a stretch to assume Binfield and Wokingham might have a quiet shout of being re-instated, since they were the losing Q-Finalists - but whose to say they too won't have a regulation-busting skeleton, piled somewhere in the back of their cupboard! :?

Even if it is another county cup its still a county cup so you'd of thought the player would at least ask just to be safe! Hang on..Common sense and footballers. What am i thinking.

Christof your crowds might be higher but every other club is getting money from the clubhouse etc. Some teams won't get that much from it whilst others will be getting more than they get via the gate! Add Tea huts etc Slough's incoming won't be that much higher than smaller supported clubs.

The schedule is in for Guernsey's remaining fixtures.

Get this....

17 (yes, that's seventeen) League games in April.

3 times they are playing on mainland on a Friday night, with a 3pm KO the following day in Guernsey!

I guess they'll have to have a Home Squad and an Away Squad.

...there's was some notion Guernsey have been running that system already and not suffering performance-wise much for it yet either. They'll certainly have their squad stretched to the max through that lot - particularly with two tough Vase semi-finals to endure at the end of this month.

Not actually playing tomorrow either - scheduled to host South Park on Sunday 17th - Epsom & Ewell away on Tue night (@ Mertsham FC); then Spennymoor in the first S-F next Sat 23rd, followed by Farnham Town the following day (Sun 24th) KO tba. - their pitch is going to be well worn too. :?

- 'domestics' mean my 'hop' range is restricted again :| to only four 'new' grounds at STEP06 or above - Longwell Gn nr Brizzle, Totton & Eling next to AFC Totton - was a double 'new-build' .... or two more in NW Lahnden in South Mids One - may well have to dodge the rain and go nearer and lower maybe N.Baaarks or into the Surrey Leagues? Not too sure of KO times - I know NBFL is invariably 14:30 - but wasn't much choice there either when I last looked.

Not least because Footes Lane is used for rugby as well, sometimes on the same day.

.... bit of news re relegation from STEP04 specifically the Southern League.

Woodford had already suggested they would be moving down into the UCL long before their performances made this somewhat inevitable.

In the S&W section Sholing have announced their intention to drop to the WESSEX - it also seems very likely that Winchester City could follow them down voluntarily, probably ensuring a reprieve for Bishops Cleeve.

Not sure how these numbers will fit in with the FAs future schemes for the Pyramid - there's every likeliehood of similar voluntary demotions and mergers across STEP04 in the Ryman and the Northern leagues.

... indeed was an absolute deluge sweeping in from SW yesterday PM - forecast had originally claimed drying conditions from lunchtime - had rained heavily though for at least 12 hrs up to that point so the schedule was almost completely wiped out:

here's the few results from games that were played;

CONFS
Bath City 2-2 Chelmsford
Billericay 1-2 Welling
Salisbury 0-0 Dover Ab @ H/T waterlogged
Sutton Utd 0-1 Farnborough

SOUTH1C
Biggleswade Town 5-2 Chalfont St. Peter
Slough Town 4-3 Aylesbury
SOUTH1S&W
Hungerford Town 3-0 Sholing

CCLP
Hanworth Villa 1-3 Croydon
CCL1
Spelthorne Sports 3-1 Feltham

HELLP
Highmoor Ibis 1-3 Ascot United

.... was particularly bad west of Sw!nedon - we turned up at Corsham (just off the A4 past Chipp'num) game delayed to 15:15 KO - but Ref decided against it at 15:05. mad dash back to Hardenhuish Pk for Chippenham T v Leamington - Ref had called that off at 14:45 :( .
Half-pondered diverting off on route home for 2nd half at Bulpit Lane (Hungerford v Sholing) but the conditions were so bad we decided it would be a wasted trip- needless to say the game was played to a finish. Can understand why Salibury didn't survive if the cloudburst headed that way too
