It was my impression Anton had to be persuaded to keep McDermott when he first took over and again before Christmas, so they all knew it was an eventuality and was only a matter of time.

Gunny fishwhatshisface last night on here claimed it's a done deal because he has inside contacts.

Take with the usual pinch of salt.

Di Canio: players don't want him
Phil parkinson: not good enough?
in my opinion Gus Poyet would be the best

Eaststandman Now that a number of first, second, third, fourth, (who knows) choices have said "thanks, but no thanks" I fully expect to see a new manager and a quote from the club saying _ _ _ _/ _ _ _ _ _ _ is the best candidate and the man we've wanted to carry us forward since we began the search for our new manager! Nice one Anton :|

axctually i think our approach for poyet was rebuffed by brighton, not poyet

Ideal Sounds plausible. JM and NH wanted MCD to stay, but mr. Smirnoff Vodka decided it was a great idea to sack the manager when clearly the timing was all wrong, and no replacement worth a damn is going to join at the current time.

He's claimed we're digging up Robin and posthumously offering him the job, AZ's puppet perhaps?

Anyone know why Luis Enrique has suddenly emerged into the picture at all?

Not too sure I would want him in charge at this stage of the season. I think Dolan should stay on until the end of the season certainly doesn't seem like a Terry Connor of last season.

Royal Lady Why are some people saying we're going to announce Adkins today? Have I missed something? :|

The odds on him being the next Royals boss have shortened dramatically to 8/11. (Although short odds also convinced everyone that Di Canio was about to be appointed). The Reading Post are running the Adkins story - but only because of what the bookies are offering, not because they have inside knowledge.

Their website is saying today that a decision on the next manager is "more likely to happen towards the end of the week". (Translated out of journalistic code speak: "Nothing is imminent, so I guess the end of the week is more likely than today").
