Alexander Litvinenko
Wycombe Royal
Alexander Litvinenko without any intentions of actually leaving.

Except McD did have intentions of leaving, then the Russians arrived.....

Check the dates and you'll see that The Russians arrived in Jan, and McCarthy wasn't sacked 'til mid-Feb. BMc spoke to them late Feb/early March.

Alexander Litvinenko "Permission to talk" is just that, though, and might be triggered by a "Premier League" clause in Poyet's contract.

He might not be offered what he wants, or Reading might quail at the compensation cost of getting him to break a 5-year contract.

Then again he might just be doing what McDermott did with Wolves last year, and using the interest of another club to negotiate a better contract package where he is - without any intentions of actually leaving.

Ruh roh here comes Captain Killjoy

You got the title wrong, it's "Captain Realistic."

Just amazed that everyone seems to think that "permission to talk" automatically equals "deal done." Still a long way to go...

That McD spoke to Wolves

All i can find is:

"I didn't speak to Wolves," he told Sky Sports News.

I thought that was common knowledge at the time. It was certainly all over here at the time.

I hope we don't promise him a big budget and then not deliver - we need a manager for at least 3 years to cre8 stability and build up his own team for the assault on the Championship and beating the 106 points total.

That was a week after McCarthy was sacked (Feb 13th). Why do you think he needed to deny it had happened? And by saying "I didn't have talks with Wolves" he's not actually lying ....

Why is Poyet any better than having McDermott though?!

What experience does he have, exactly?!

We don't have the players to "play nice football" though......so unless he is given a whacking great big transfer budget, its not going to work here

I bet he rejects us and Anton says 'he was just one of a number of candidates we want to speak to, this isn't a disaster. We move on'. HAHAAHAHAHHA!

I think Poyet lives close by from his Chelsea / Swindon days - his lad Diego, used to play for Ascot Utd. His son is now at Charlton.
