Nothing on my Sky Sports News app - only that we were given permission to talk to him.

Brighton have given Gus Poyet permission to speak to Reading over their managerial vacancy, Sky sources understand.

The Premier League's joint-bottom side are seeking a replacement for Brian McDermott, who was sacked earlier this month after a run of four straight defeats.

Neither club has commented on the speculation but Poyet has been backed into odds of 1/10 with several bookmakers.

The former Uruguay international took the Brighton reins in November 2009 and in his first full season in charge led the club to promotion as League One champions.

He is contracted to the south coast club - currently outside the play-off places only on goal difference - until 2016.

WoodleyRoyal 5pm press conference at the AMEX

If true, probably just a press conference to say Poyet has turned us down.

Can someone register on that Brighton & Massive Albion forum and tell them just how underwhelmed I am at the thought of him becoming our new manager.

Did SJM hold a press conference to say that McGhee wasn't leaving (just before he went to Leicester).

   - more from the Brighton lot

The deal for Zingarevich to buy Reading FC dragged on for ages. Why? Because John Madewski wasn't convinced this guy had the dosh to do the deal. There are still very strong rumours that his wealth is nowhere near that reported. So.....
1) Dodgy Chairman
2) Dodgy Chairman sacks loyal employee ( Brian McD ) and upsets everyone at club.
3) Championship club next season.
4) Don't kid yerself they will have a big kitty next season. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE THIS.
5) Fickle fanbase...24,000 in Prem.....14,000 in Championship.
6) If Bolton and Blackburn couldn't challenge this season and they had better players in the Prem ( and retained most )than Reading.....WHAT CHANCE HAVE READING GOT OF BOUNCING STRAIGHT BACK?
There seems to be this argument going around that Reading are awash with money....Crap...Utter Crap...Getting relegated means missing out on the really big dough.( Which Brighton might be helping themselves to soon )
