I would much rather we get the right person in, rather than just someone because they're available. I read an article somewhere about Poyet, he seemed almost like BM to a degree, players he bought that he froze out, a forward bought in on big money who prefers a different style from the way the team plays. We may yet have dodged a bullet there. I am not sure what the Adkins situation is, but he seems ok to me, won promotions and championships for every team he managed. Having said that why not go for a manager who actually has a record of working with Premier League players (not sure who though  ) as part of 'The Reading Way' has always seemed to be a complete inability to handle players brought in for this league?

I'm afraid that I feel BM had to go. The style of play was awful, and particuarly naive at this level, and you can't expect to lose two games at home to your nearest rivals and walk away scot free. I thought the Man Utd display was a lot better, and yes it lacked a cutting edge but as ED only had them for 4 days, what were people expecting? I am not sure if I would want ED as a long-term appointment (or more importantly, whether he would want to be?) but if we could pick up a few positive results then who knows where that will lead? Especially with Sunderland seemingly in a downward spiral.

I have no real concerns that we don't have a manager in place yet. We are not Wolves. We have not appointed the Asst Manager with minimal experience to a team on a downward trajectory. We have temporarily asked our highly respected (both inside and outside the club) Academy supremo to run the first team that already all but down, anything that happens could be a bonus. He is not inexperienced, he was not just sitting on BM's shoulder going 'Yes, boss!', he was running the Academy, and by all accounts seems to be doing a very good job of it. For me, after all this 'hoofball' this season I would be interested to see just how much silk ED would be able to extract from this sow's purse before the end of the season, if it came to that.

Well this is all rather disappointing. Still, far from a disaster or the end of the world yet, despite what the usual wrist slitting suspects want to make of it.

He was on tv last night talking about the England Job and he said the first question he was asked at his first press conference was ''how does it feel to be the 95th choice to be England manager?" so he's used to being an afterthought.

I would be happy with Dolan personally, based on:

- the players like him/respond to him
- one performance
- academy results and style of play
- I had a bet on him

Poyet's odd dropping again. He was at 20's first thing this morning but is now 9/1 on BetFair.

I believe next permanent manager means they have to be in charge for 10 games minimum. I can see Dolan being in charge until the end of the season and then we'll have another look in the summer. In which case you'd imagine there would be different people being considered. You'd be really stupid to put money on anybody ATM especially Eamonn at 2/1

Felt for Mcdermott. Great manager. Totally wrong time to change in my opinion.

We would have him back at slough, but fair play to him he is bigger and better than that now.

Di Canio would destroy your club, Adkins would be pretty good i think.

Appleton is a knob so would stay clear of him.

I'm loving the fact that Dariusz Wdowczyk is now showing on Sky Bet at 33/1!! With those odds, it must be worth a cheeky tenner.

RoyalTank
2 world wars, 1 world cup
Out of work and refreshed

I think he has gone past the stage of being refreshed... he has been out of the game for way too long!

Yeah because the game changes soooo much.

This is the ONLY possible argument against him though, so respect for at least saying something intelligent, compared to other mongs here.

Terminal Boardom
2 world wars, 1 world cup My number one choice and >>>>>>>>>>Adkins or poyet.

I can't believe he's not even tried???

Anyone who doesn't know about him (most I would imagine judging by the voting) just look him up.

Out of work and refreshed, infinitely better record than Adkins+Poyet together.

Should have been England manager.

An absolute no brainer.

I'm delighted these nobodies haven't worked out, now we can go for my man.... GET CURBISHLEY NOW!!!!!!!!

I suggest that you go into the bathroom, look in the mirror, and give yourself a damned good talking to. Biggest load of bollocks I have ever read.

What an incredibly stupid response.

I suggest you look at his record.

Ideal Didn't he have like 3 god seasons with Charlton, other than that mostly mediocre, and at West Ham had loads of money but still failed? Doesn't sound like anything any other manager couldn't equal, but I guess if all you want is mediocrity and spending then sure.

Well at Charlton.

Failed at WH? Please look up his record and then educate us all

steered them clear of very likely relegation with 7 out of 9 wins.
Then Led them to TENTH in the Prem
Then left after a dispute

Hi record >>>>>> Poyet or Adkins.

Adkins failed in the Prem, Poyet hasn't even managed in the Prem. Curbs did exactly what we'd love to happen.

How the F*CK is a board that prides itself on being fairly literate and bright and clued up about footy so clueless about this man???

The only semi-intelligent against Curbs is that he might be a bit rusty, but he went to WH after a break and did ok. A good manager doesn't become bad overnight.

CURBS>>>>>>>>>>>anyone else we can think of

As usual I'm one of the very few with the balls to stick my neck out against the mongs of HNA having been right every time except with King Brian. Not a bad record methinks.

WE MUST AT LEAST CONSIDER CURBISHLEY
