melonhead my sources say that the problems theyve all had with taking the job are mainly squeeky based

British managers in general are scared of the Director of Football title for some reason.

personally, anything that got me away from the busniz side of things, and let me get on with coaching etc would be seen as a good thing.
especially in the squeeky mold. if it was a high profile experienced manager in the role i could see it being a problem.
but hamster?not really

My sources tell me anyone applying for the job needs to be able to perform a windmill comparable to that of the great Sir Steve.

This is putting some applicants off.

andrew1957 Assuming the objective was PL survival - every day that goes by this turns into a more and more embarrassing farce.

Why not just give it to Dolan for the rest of the season - as any other manager will now know that they are third or fourth choice. At least that will buy time and Dolan probably has as good a chance as anyone of keeping us up - be it a VERY slim one.

Which most people realise it wasn't.

Dolan has said he doesn't want it. I reckon he could be persuaded if necessary, but only after we've gone through the process of going external and that failing.

The search for a successor will start immediately and it is hoped that a new Manager will be in place as soon as possible to lead the fight against potential relegation.

As this is the one of the only communique's from the club regarding the sacking of the previous manager and the appointment of a new one the only option is to take it for it's word.

:| Well they're hardly going to say we've already accepted that we're relegated so we've decided to forfeit the remaining games.

Normally I'd say we'd dismiss those sort of concerns pretty quickly, but there have been hints that our DoF may be involved in the team selection this season, what with the Pearce saga. It could certainly seem that way to an outside eye and require more reassurance than normal.

When you've got someone like Poyet, who's already got a good job, it could help explain why it looks like he rejected a move to us. Even without that it would have to be a pretty close call for him.

But it's all speculation and something to keep us busy during the International break. We can hardly moan about losing again with another shambolic performance if we haven't actually played.

Kevin Watson tweeting that he knows who the new manager is.
Pinch of salt as not sure why an ex-player would know before it was announced publicly but also can't imagine why he'd be trolling us.

I didn't say he was, I said there were hints he may have. There absolutely have been. Especially from the view of an outside eye. I already know you completely dismiss that, it doesn't make it not the case that it could look like a possibility to a lot of people.

I hope it isn't that, I guess it probably isn't. Neither you nor I can say for definite one way or the other. Wind your neck in.
