TTC I think we will be pleasantly surprised by what Adkins does for Reading FC. he is really into sport science and meticulous in his preparation.

He's got a massive point to prove to his former employers and will certainly get the squad motivated with fresh ideas and new training etc.

he deserves 100% backing from us supporters.

Stop talking crap about a style of football you know nothing about. Tiki taka is a passing style played through midfielders, in the opposition's half with players looking for space in behind and it allows the full backs to get forward (E.G. Ramos in Euro 2008, Alves and Alba). What Swansea do and the what the British seem to think passing football involves is to play it around their own half for half an hour. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to watch Brazil on the tellybox.

Tilehurstsouthbank Good appointment for me. Scunny and Saints played good stuff under him and his record for getting teams promoted is decent. The Saints game will be fun too! :D

Welcome newbie

The presentation is better done on the pitch in daylight hours rather than waste money on the floodlights

I can see Reading fans doing a fake tan day in homage to their new Manager.

Be proper funny to see that

Happy with this - his track record to date has been good and he has bought wisely when given funds.

I don't buy this that he was second choice - he may have been interviewed before Poyet that is if Poyet was interviewed at all?

MmmMonsterMunch Can't wait for next season now. Even if we don't go up we'll be good to watch without being a tiki taka pass around the back 4 bore fest.

Agreed. We aren't gonna win the champions league playing like Real Madrid. What I want is to watch entertaining football on a Saturday afternoon, and Adkins will give us this. It would be great to go straight back up and all, but thats a bonus. Most important thing is enjoying on a Saturday

Cannot get at all excited about this.

I really hoped we were going get a dynamic manager who could take us to the next level.

What do we get.................................

Mr Dullard! An ex physiotherapist at Scunthorpe who was sacked at Saints.

Why was he sacked? Because they wanted to step up to the next level!

Sorry Reading cheap, poor, option!

We're bottom of the table. What did you honestly expect? Pep Guardiola? Adkins would be a good appointment for most mid-table teams.

MmmMonsterMunch nice football - tick
proven at getting promoted - tick
professional - tick
gets on well with the players & staff - tick
fits the reading mould - tick

Failed in the Prem - tick

Any theories then on why Soton, who BTW will now be staying up, canned him? Did they screw up?

EDIT: I'm actually be ok with the appointment...even tho I don't much care what a Wolves or Leeds fan thinks.

Exactly that. This is the best thing about this appointment - we are going to be entertained.
