Arsenal dilemma - corporate box or not?

by schubert06 » 25 Mar 2013 22:57

Those of you who know me, will know I am a man of simple means and frugal pleasures.

I have been, by fell circumstance, offered a corporate box ticket to the Arsenal game on Saturday. I know that the account manager was struggling to offload client tickets during Easter and I was one of the few Reading supporters he knew. I have also been informed to dress "in smart casual".

I am inclined to accept. I know I will see you all at the visitors end whilst I am forced to drink merlot and eat blue cheese and be subject to patronising and "sympathetic" conversation from blokes who actually prefer rugby union. And I won't be able to sing.

Ought I go? I hadn't an away ticket so have to reconcile that guilt too. What lines of banter might I use in such a situation?

You could tell them that we won a trophy last year. Clutching at straws though, maybe.

Corperate box sounds a bit wank if I'm honest but it's better than not going at all.

In the exact same situation. Feel a lot better knowing that if we scored I wouldn't be the only one in a box to celebrate...

"Huzzah for you!" they'll cry. "Pity about London Irish". Still I could drink a shed load of merlot and see what passions that whips up...

Take your piano and entertain us pitiful lot at half time. At the end do the rawk n roll thing and shove the piano through the glass.

Not sure how you'd go about obtaining the sheet music for Bill Oddie

I'm trying to get my head around this. Two plus hours of free food and liquor and there's a live Reading game going on if you can drag yourself away from the trough for long enough? Sounds idyllic to me.

If you don't go, tell him I'd happily go. If we are 5-0 down after 10 minutes a free bar sounds great! I'll just spend the rest getting off my tits on free wine and come out thinking we have just beaten Arsenal.

I would then get the wrong train out of London & end up in Skegness!

Should you not just have titled this thread "am I a wuss or not?".

I blagged a space in a box at Anfield for the cup win a few years ago and went mental when Long scored only to see Mrs Gerrard in the next box!!!! Give her a big

No. It's "Look at Me! Aren't I Great!"

There's a difference.

I was in hospitality last time we played there in 08. Got to meet Charlie George & some other (less memorable) ex-player.

No box for me though - I was sat in the middle tier above the away corner. Never got the chance to find out what would happen if I cheered when we scored. I doubt you will either.
