I think everyone is going to give him a chance and get behind him, because ultimately, we all still support the club. There is a fair portion of people though who are still disappointed that we've made this change, and we've made it now, because Brian was a great part of the club.

i dont think so.
we tend to get behind our managers, and it takes quite alot for us to turn on them.
i guess the newer fans dontreally get this though, so its possible

WinnershSaint I am pretty sure he knew his departure was pretty much on the cards. His odd reaction after the Coventry game on the last day of the season spoke volumes.

Care to elaborate?

This board was full of people expressing similar disappointment when McDermott was given the job, some really short memories around here.
Folks were slagging Mcdermott off for only being a Scout, Managing Slough, getting sacked by Woking ect.
We now get a manager with four promotions to his name who also gets his teams playing better football and the same folks still find something to be negative about.

Not sure anyone's been negative about this appointment - everyone seems to agree he's the best man in the circumstances, even if some think he's a bit of a nob

It's not Adkins' fault that McDermott got the sack or that he was offered the job. I just hope that he is given a fair crack at the whip from the fans and the owner. The summer will be interesting.

SuperMikey . He's got bags of catchphrases ("on the bus", "in the building", "hard-working group of professionals", "one game at a time", "draw a blue line under it" etc) and i'm sure he'll do well for you.

I'm a big fan of non sequiturs and I'm sure he'll do well for us too.

Ideal
SHORT AND CURLY Hope he proves me wrong, but totally uninspired about this appointment.

Agreed. What the hell was the point of all this, sack the manager and then appoint one who did worse than him last season despite having a lot better players?
Absolutely underwhelmed!

Good, fcuk off then

Jay Tabb on talksport at the moment, he thought sacking Brian was an odd decision. Owner and DoF told him he wouldn't be offered a new deal.
He seems to think there might be an opportunity to impress the new manager and hopes to train with Reading over the summer

Perhaps this was Brian's downfall? He just didnt have many catchphrases. "We move on" just wasnt enough

Care to elaborate?

He talked of an eventual “parting of the ways” and said, “I just hope it’s handled in the right way”. It seemed a decidedly strange reaction considering he had steered us to back to back promotions. It was reflective rather than euphoric, as if he had brought us as far as he was going to be allowed to take us. The relationship between him and Cortese appeared strained amidst the celebrations and his response seemed to be that of a "dead man walking".

Although how that's the case when he's consistently played better than all but possibly Akpan this season, is a little beyond me.

If he's given 30 mil, I'd say thats a fair crack.

i think that last sentence overstates his words.
he said before he had o chance, now he doesnt know, he hopes to sign permenantly for ipswich, but if the call comes to come back to reading and show the manager what he can do he will be happy to do so
