So basically, he wasn't good enough for Newcastle in the Prem

Well he played a decent number of games for the side that finished that finished 5th (?) and had perhaps the 2nd or 3rd best central midfield yes.

I'd say that would make him more than good enough for a team looking to avoid relegation, but he's no superstar in the making no.

Once again, I see pretty much nothing wrong (or innacurate) with what he's said and people seem to be twisting it into some sort of pop at McDermott from something fairly innocuous.

I've just finished a reply in which I slate Guthrie for being a little oik who id like gone ASAP.

And now I see this. Does this guy ever STFU?

Having said that I agree Ian this is fairly harmless. It's just that it comes from the little sh*t that is Guthrie.

So let me get this right... there are a load of fans that dislike danny guthrie because he is outspoken and clashed with Brian... Now Brian has gone and he's still a bad egg even though we agree with what he was saying?? I think he is exactly the type of player we should be looking to keep hold of and build a team around him in the champ next season! We sure do know how to shoot ourselves in the foot sometimes!!

Pretty much everything Guthrie has said is true, and he he said it after BM has gone. He (BM) barely changed the team even in cup matches, unless injury or Guthries gob forced him. I wasn't expecting much from this season but I was hoping for a lot more than the plop I have painfully witnessed. BM had millions, if not tens of millions to spend this season, but more or less spent Jack. Guthrie has said he wants a fresh start -dont we all? The King is Dead, Long Live the King.

Whilst i agree with what he has said in terms of there being some invincibles it shouldn't come from his mouth on eve of new manager coming in. He hasn't exactly been great when he has played should pipe down and learn how to pass the ball

Just because a player isn't good enough to play every week for one Premier League team doesn't mean he isn't good enough for another.

I think if Southampton had signed him and we'd signed Steven Davis, both teams would have benefited.

You're comparing apples and oranges. He isn't anywhere near Dzeko, Smalling or Moses.
He's more like a Curtis Fleming, Paul Shaw, Phil Stamp or someone of that level, the shit tier of footballers.

You're putting quite a lot of personal bias into interpreting that, because it's not what it says at all.

Remember Guthrie refused to travel, be available for a game, that is disrespect. Reading fc is a team, not johnny come-latelys, who have shown their true colours before. Leave comments behind, show us how good you think you are on the pitch. I am not against Guthrie at all, maybe I am old fart, imo, players have too much power and influence these days.
