Ian Royal Once again, I see pretty much nothing wrong (or innacurate) with what he's said and people seem to be twisting it into some sort of pop at McDermott from something fairly innocuous.

“I don’t want to talk about anything in the past, I want to look forward now. We’ve got a new manager now and everything is looking a little bit better.
“I think some of the lads who were guaranteed a place in the past have to be a little bit sharper and for players like me it’s a new chance under a new manager. It has a big impact on everyone.
“There’s always a buzz around the place when a new manager comes in. There was this week even though Arsenal is a difficult place to come. There will be again this week and we’ve got an important home game (against Southampton) next week.
“I don’t know if there were favourites under Brian McDernott, but there were players who played every week. When a new manager comes in, it’s a fresh start for everyone.
“It’s been a while for me. It was a difficult 90 minutes for me but just happy to be playing again. I’ve not really spoken to the new manager, he just named the team and I was in it. I was just happy to be in the starting XI.
“I want to get some games under my belt, start helping the team get some results because we’re running out of games. We need some back to back wins. That would make all the difference.”
“We knew it was going to be difficult but it ended up being damage limitation a bit as the third and fourth went in.
“We still believe we can do it. You have to believe, you’ve got no choice while it’s still possible. We owe that to ourselves, the club and the supporters.”

AthleticoSpizz So basically, he wasn't good enough for Newcastle in the Prem
Yet good enough for Reading in the Prem

I take it you'd be opposed to the signing of Edin Dzeko, then? Or Chris Smalling? Or Victor Moses?
You're comparing apples and oranges. He isn't anywhere near Dzeko, Smalling or Moses.
He's more like a Curtis Fleming, Paul Shaw, Phil Stamp or someone of that level, the shit tier of footballers.

essentially " i simply still cannot understand why i wasnt played as much as i wanted. im cl4arly better than anyone else here and deserve to be an automatic pick, despite never doing oxf*rd all when i was picked"
im paraphrasing of course
but if respected journos can do it, so can i
- th ejournos have clearly dug deep into the quotes to take any slight implication of a dig.
taken at face value hes simply saying" we all know i didnt play as much as i liked under brian, and now i have clean slate & a chance to prove myself to the new manager, and it means that even the established players need to pick up their games if they want to impress him too. this can only be good for the club"

Don't see anything wrong with any of that.

percyisfreeman My point is not dis agreeing with Guthries comments, and journo's putting their bias comments etc, It's just disrespect for his club and players, do you think the likes of legs etc would feel positive about Guthries timing. Remember Guthrie refused to travel, be available for a game, that is disrespect. Reading fc is a team, not johnny come-latelys, who have shown their true colours before. Leave comments behind, show us how good you think you are on the pitch. I am not against Guthrie at all, maybe I am old fart, imo, players have too much power and influence these days.
