I'm afraid I don't really have any confidence in Reading in any of the remaining games. It's far too late for Adkins to turn things around. Frankly, I'm looking forward to next season and hope this one is a "lessons learnt".

Now we are "down" it's about rebuilding the heart and soul, getting some belief back.

It's more to do with not being humiliated now.

I fear a 0-3 or 1-3 as the most likely result. Have to just hope Adkins can make it tougher (us tougher)
but hard to imagine a win. Expect a defeat, hope for 1-1

a rejuvenated team, players look like theyve been brought in from a dimension where reading are top 4, adkins carried from the stadium to the purple turtle on the shoulders of the crowd.

That's quite realistic for you.

my first daft one in months!
- been trying something different, in mildly optimistic predictions of narrow lucky victories for the last few months in the hope it changes our luck.

i thought perhaps the luck gods didnt like me mocking them, but it wasnt that.

Saints fan in peace here....Nigel is no fool....he can't work miracles and I expect you'll lose but you can't judge him on what happens this season (unless he really does keep you up).

Keep faith with Nigel he is a great manager

Good luck for Saturday.....if we could lose to you and then beat West Ham and Stoke I woould be delighted and I would love it if we both survived.

I have a sneaky you will win

2-1 to Reading

adkins knows these players inside out added to the fact that you really HAVE to win this (like QPR HAVE to beat Wigan)

the only thing in our favour, is that you cant sit and soak it up (which seemed to be your tactic under brian) as adkins wont let you
which for our new style is like a dog to a bone

just I think you will take your chances and we will fluff ours and you will win

My instinct says we'll win this one. It's a chance to stretch the hope/pain out for a few more weeks, new manager's first game at home against the team that sacked him and who he presumably knows very well in terms of players, strengths, weaknesses, etc.

This might slightly defy logic in terms of the fact Southampton like to play a high pressing game and if Reading are still adapting to a new style then we might gift a few chances like we did on Saturday. But I think we'll just nick it.

2-1 Reading.

All those thinking we will win this one clearly did not go to Arsenal.

Soton are better than Villa or Wigan who both played us off the park - we''ll lose at least 0-3.

I dislike Soton more than any other team and was gutted at being totally outplayed, outclassed in December at the away fixture, and to every Saints fan I know who went to the match, the worst team they've seen at St Mary's for a long time. Plus the amount of money I lost through 'friendly' bets with quite a few people.

a, I want my money back
b, I could not face going into work if we lose this match
c, I cannot take the ribbing this season any more from Saints fans
d, My facebook wall will be full of gloating, cocky, full of themselves Saints fans telling me how shit we are and how good they are

So please please PLEASE Reading, give me a break, beat them, 'kay?

Heart says 2-1 home win
Head says 2-3 away win

You'll win, I'm sure of it. It's fate, surely!?

Nigel knows our players inside out and I think our players will be only too keen to win this one. However, "too keen" can also lead to "loss of concentration" and we'll endear ourselves to you by making a couple of silly mistakes to help you on your way.

We really have "kicked on" since Nigel and whilst Pochettino's influence has given us an extra edge to our play (the high pressing), we are by no means the finished article and still prone to regular and additional-time whoopsies.

3-1 Reading.

I haven't seen a live game since Sunderland. So my memories are of that win, Chelsea, West Brom and Sheff Utd. It's all rosy.

So...whilst the head says miserable defeat (0-3), my 'when we were kings' heart says 2-1 RFC. The dead cat will bounce.

surely this should wait until we have won 5 on the bounce and secured safety?

No you really don't get it. There is no life in this old dog any more. We suck & you will win comfortably.
