Brian thought they were good enough, blame him

For the first 20 min we looked a decent side that could pass the ball about, but Brian didn't manage to do that all season

I thought it was Leigertwood's fault. Or was it Jobi's?

Ideal We had one single decent chance at scoring, at home, against mouthampton.. the rest were all speculative long range efforts that would never go in in a million years.
Is that good enough?

No it's not Mr McDermott - it was his team/squad!

At least Adkins got us playing some nice passing football in the first twenty minutes (one particularly sublime sequence of pass and move down the right) before McDermott's boys reverted to type having had the direct/hoof style drummed into them over several seasons.

Well Hammond appointed McDermott so it must be his fault then? Or is it Madejski's fault for appointing Hammond? Then again Smee sold the club to Madejski so it must be his fault.

It's easy to blame one person if you have an agenda but anyone with half a brain knows that there's never just one person to blame for these situations.

Ideal He picks the tactics. He picks the starting 11. His job to make sure the players listen to his tactical instructions, and make them believe in the tactic.
Players seemingly aborted his plan of action after a short time, indicates lack of conviction.

Sounds like Brian

If we had restricted the other team to 0, yes.

I'm confused.

There was the header from the corner that Morrison headed over after 5 minutes, and the ALF blaze over from 5 yards after 22 minutes, or the good save at the foot of the post from Akpan a few minutes later - which one is the "single decent chance" you're talking about?

Ideal in being clueless bore shocker. This is Brian's squad, who've been drilled in Brian's style of football. Impossible for Adkins to turn it all around in 2 weeks.

We need to tear up this particular bunch and start again. Any who don't have the patience to sit through a few bad results in the evolution of a squad/system that can be as good as Saints were today should probably leave now.

Enough of this spoit 'I want it all and I want it now' crap. Time to rebuild.

I `m so glad there are intelligent people on this board that can see the reality of the matter rather than the fecking idiot that is Ideal.

Ideal The simple question was either yes or no, is one proper chance at scoring good enough, at home, against southampton.

Yet none of you seem able to answer that, you just come up with loads of excuses and namecalling. Maybe you want to answer the question, yes or no, is it good enough?

What a BS question.

OF COURSE IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH - IN ANY LEAGUE AT ANY LEVEL. WHAT POINT ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE EXACTLY SEEING AS YOU ALREADY KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION???!

What about the header that was possibly over the line?

I wasn't the one claiming that Adkins would bring gifts, candy and intelligent football taking us to the next level.
Clearly we've gotten worse, not only worse, but much worse. Yet people are in such strong denial they are failing to realize this very reality of things.

The only person in this thread that is blatantly wrong, and perhaps in denial, is you. Whether we had 2 or 3 proper chances, we certainly had more than 1 therefore your whole poll is based on an inaccurate 'fact'. Perhaps you should "realize reality".

I'm not sure anyone was claiming Adkins would be able to turn us into a good team in two weeks. Plus it was obvious to everyone watching that we were considerably more effective playing the way he wants us to, rather than when we retreated to the safety of Brian's hoofball when things started going against us.

But you carry on Ideal..

Did anyone really expect a magic wand here? It wouldn't have mattered who we would have played in this division, all (if any) confidence has been drained away. No amount of tinkering, tweaking, twist in formation is going to have any dramatic effect this late on.

Whether the tactics were right with Le Fondre up front...who knows. The decent chance at scoring is, unfortunately, where we are at. If anyone, let alone nit-pick at anything Ideal, thought we were going to pepper Southampton's goal and be 'flowing' is expecting an alternate reality.

Next season will be different...
