grey_squirrel After Lallana's lonesome, pedestrian stroll in the park to score, to those of you voting Mariappa - Big LOL.

One bad game doesn't make you a bad player. He's certainly been better than 'saintly' Alex Pearce.

Who believes Pearce to be 'saintly'? One person out of 222 ranked him in their top 3 players of the season, am I missing something.
Mariappa will probably edge the vote, but in truth everyone's been fairly crap. Even the current poll's 2nd place, Le Fondre, has shown he's nothing more than a super-sub at Prem level.

He's had his fair share of howlers. Neville, for example, tore him to pieces for his terrible defending against Arsenal last year. He's got a lot about him, but his positioning in our box has often been very poor.

Just the way some people go on about Pearce to make out he's our best defender, I just don't agree and think Mapps has been better but as you said no one has stood out.

I'm the only person who voted for Pearce. 60 people have voted for Mariappa.

I do think Pearce is our best defender, I think he's excellent at reading the game, his positioning is very good and he organises the back line well (though that might just be because he doesn't play with Morrison very much). I do rate Mariappa but I don't think he is quite as good as Pearce, his pace is a real asset but he sometimes struggles when players run at him.

One bad game? The others being innocuous then makes it alright

Royals-lad14 player of the season isnt based on one game

No shlt.

He hadn't a clue what he was supposed to be doing. No awareness. No postioning. No aguilty. No nothing.
Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail.

Even when he realised Lallana was behind him and about to score his reactions were slower than an oil tanker changing course.

I think if Kebe had avoided injury he'd have this hands down. He's been our best winger and our best right back, and he's even learned to head.

Problem with Pearce is that he is incredibly slow, cannot head the ball to his own player and cannot pass the ball-I just cannot see a Prem club coming in for him with the best will in the world. Marriapa and Morrison are better players-but whoever is the current defensive coach has a shed-load of work to do on them-that said I have just seen Sergio stroll pass two England center backs no problem at all.

I think we should all vote for Bryn...not only because no one has really stood out this season, but also it would be a good way to thank such a servant to the club

Westwood52 Marriapa and Morrison are better players

Perhaps one day, but at the moment there is no justification for saying that Morrison is better than Pearce. Morrison is as slow as Pearce, very prone to mistakes and has atrocious positioning.

Definitely Pearce is the better defender than Morrison. Morrison has along way to go before he is good enough to be 1st choice. His positioning and marking is awful and also his decision making is not very good. However he is fairly mobile for a CB and is an ariel threat, so with hard work he can become a very good CB but at the moment I would prefer pearce

Send your nomination for Gunnarsson at playeroftheseason@readingfc.co.uk w/subject "My player of the season is Brynjar Gunnarsson" then it will be possible to vote for him..

I can't see the propaganda team behind the scenes accepting any entries for him considering he hasn't played though, so i think i'll just pick Kebe.

Difficult one this. I went for Mapps and it seems like a lot think along the same lines. There won't be many who emerge from this season with a lot of credit.
