Before Saturday's game with Liverpool, fans of both clubs will hold a minute's silence for 24th anniversary of Hillsborough disaster @LFC

Wonder if Thatcher gets mentioned? If she does it could get interesting if the two events are coupled.

Isn't that a reference to the silence held at a previous game?

TFF
Para Handy  So, the OP hasn't seen a quote anywhere but "it's all over twitter"

Nothing on any of the club's official channels to suggest this is even remotely true.

I'd be massively surprised if it was.

OK. Apologies. Hadn't seen that before. Massive, massive mistake IMO. Won't be respected and has no place at football particulary considering the opposition.

Not sure Reading should do this minutes silence for Hillsborough. It's a very political subject these days. Keep politics out of football.

Kes, do you actually, secretly believe that people find you funny? In any way? Do you actually think you get a rise out of us? I'm sure being bothered to type several sentences in reply will count as some kind of victory in your book but it seems a sad lonely existence to me.

Haven't we done enough this season? The scarves at the memorial and then the YNWA song after the truth came out. I think this is a joint Thatcher/Hillborough minute so the Liverpool fans can't boo.

I hate these minute silence things, they are so artificial , always waiting for some knob to break the silence, that why I always stay downstairs until they are over. except remembrance Sunday weekend

If Thatcher is mentioned they'll boo, we wont mention her and then MOTD and BBC Sport will say it was for Thatcher.

Or they'll just think it's for Thatcher and boo anyway. It is gonna be interesting.

If Liverpool want to commemorate Hillsborough they can do so at their home game. I'm pretty sure if Reading played Bradford or Juventus there would be no minutes silence.

So SJM wants a silence for Maggie, which is bang out of order. If he wants silence, he can sit quietly and let us all enjoy the football.

Now the club say the plans for a Hillsborough silence were in place weeks ago...

Liverpool fans don't want the minute silence. I don't think they trust what it's for now.

We've done a tribute. Let's just play the game.

Well, this all adds an extra little dimension for Saturday.

Oh dear Sir John what have you done.

If Thatcher is mentioned in any small way on that pitch moments before whistle blows to commence the minute silence then there will be carnage!
