Ideal Leeds to win the division, while we finish 14th. You heard it here first.

Not a chance. McDermott a slow starter

Like when he took over with us in 22nd place in January 2010 and we finished 9th, you mean?

Good luck, Brian. Be absolute JOKES if Leeds beat us in the play-offs next season

Yeah, I'd be chuckling. Leeds are the most delightful club in England. Actually, no it would be better if BM was managing West Ham and sent us down. Yeah LOLZ etc. :|

I'm not sure BM and Leeds are a good fit.

Could be another Coppell/City situation.

I am still yet to see anything confirmed. Thought they would have announced him by now if true.

Confired.
GFH Capital, owners of Leeds United, are delighted to confirm the appointment of Brian McDermott as the club's new manager with immediate effect.
Brian has agreed a three-year contract and will be joined by Nigel Gibbs as his assistant. The pairing previously worked together at Reading, where Brian won promotion to the Premier League last season.
David Haigh, deputy chief executive of GFH Capital, said: "We are delighted to have appointed Brian as our manager. He is a man with a proven track record of success and shares our vision of the best way to return long terms and sustainable success to this great football club.
"Obviously the immediate aim is a return as soon as possible to the Premiership. Brian's success in taking Reading to the Premiership last year was a key factor in our decision to hire him."
The new management team met the players for he first time on Friday morning ahead of the weekend game against Sheffield Wednesday.
Brian is due to be formally unveiled at a Press Conference on Friday afternoon at Elland Road.
Brian brings with him the experience of having clinched promotion from the Championship last season when he guided Reading to the Premier League for the second time in the club's history.
Having reached the Championship Play-Off final in 2011, Reading won 15 of their last 19 games in 2011/12 to secure a Premier League return.
The 52-year-old had spent 12 years at Reading before parting company with the club earlier this season. He joined initially as chief scout before joining the coaching staff, and he stepped up as caretaker manager in December 2009, following Brendan Rogers' departure.
He was handed the job on a permanent basis the following January and, having been denied by Swansea in the Play-Off final at the end of his first full season in charge, he piloted the club back to the top-flight the following season when he was also named LMA Championship Manager Of The Year.
As a player, McDermott started his career at Arsenal where he spent five years before going on to have spells with Fulham, Norrkoping, Oxford, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Exeter, and Yeovil. After a short stint in China, he returned to the UK where he managed Woking and Slough before joining Reading in 2000.

Ideal
Royal With Cheese I'm not sure BM and Leeds are a good fit.

Let's review the playing material at hand, I did and I think its a perfect match for McD's style of play!
McD likes defensive midfielder who battle hard and win the ball, and run about like headless chickens to dominate midfield, Leeds have:
Austin
Brown
Tonge

Doesn't that sound very "McDermott'ish"? Sounds like it would suit him well.
McD likes hard working forwards, Leeds have:
Varney
Morison
McCormack
El Hadji Diouf

Varney, from what I remember, is a very industrious forward, Morison as well but he is a very strong targetman, everybody knows Diouf is a total arse, but McCormack is a bit of a poaching kind of player. So sounds like they could do well for McD.

Defense looks to be their weakest part of the team, the only ones I've even seen or heard of are Warnock, Drury and Bromby, and Bromby's been injured all season so he might retire. I figure McD might need to bring in some defenders, maybe he will poach Pearce from us?

I also think they have a lack of wingers for McD's style. So he basicly needs to sign a bunch of defenders and some wingers, and they'll be sailing.

I was thinking more around the relationship with Ken Bates than the players themselves.

Exactly SLAMMED. As far as I'm concerned he's done a fantastic job for the club.

I don't want to see him manage another club, its like when Coppell took over at Bristol City. I want them to fail, nothing personal i just want us to be the only club to benefit from him/them

Just in case you wondered where David O'Leary was:

David O'Leary wins case against Al Ahli football club. $5.2m. Which means he was on $2.6m a year for managing a football club in Dubai.

Brian Flynn has 'gone upstairs' at Doncaster. Hope it wasn't forced, he did fantastically.
