VINTAGE ROYAL AK, Yes they were trying to buy those tickets but they were going to get in with or without them, this was a big part of the problem. People should not have died at a foofball match but to say that liverpool fans were inocent of any blame is wrong.

It was an end with known problems. There had been similar incidents there in two semis in the previous decade or so. Nobody had died though, so nobody saw it as a problem that needed sorting out.

Also it is a fact (they've counted the numbers in the end) that the end itself was not overfilled. Therefore the idea that the crush was caused because there were hundreds/thousands of ticketless Liverpool fans in the end is just completely false.

The actions of Liverpool fans in Istanbul though have been hugely damaging, and a probably a big part in the "no smoke without fire" mentality a lot of fans display these days with regards to what happened at Hillsborough.

I think that is pretty much settled opinion now.

But the scousers contention that no fans turned up drunk/late/ticketless (regardless of the fact that this was not the cause of the tragedy) is riseable.

We paused for a moment to respect the passing of 96 people in tragic circumstances. Would it not have been appropriate for Liverpool fans to keep their deep joy at the passing of another human being - albeit in entirely more peaceful circumstances - to themselves and not revel in it? You stay classy, Liverpool fans.

I've set up a an Independent Panel to investigate what occurred in the away end of Madejski Stadium on 13th April 2013.
Initial findings categorically prove that the order to 'do the conga' was given by none other than...

surprise, surprise,
South Yorkshire Police

That can't be right going by the amount of scousers that say they were in the Leppings lane end there must have been tens of thousands. A bit like how the entire population of Berkshire was on the Southbank to see Friday score against Tranmere from fully 200 yards

I remember being there on the terraces, only a few years before I was born. What a day!

Look forward to the day I am an old pensioner tucked up under a blanket telling my newly born great grandchild about the day they were definitely on the Southbank to see Friday score against Tranmere

In hindsight, when Shankley said "Football isn't a matter of life and death, it's more important than that" - makes that phrase look very silly now.

Some RFC fans retorted with the "always the victims " song AFTER they were singing about Thatcher. #stillclassyLFC
