Good good! But their points deduction should be carried into next season now.

One would think so, as there would be no "punishment" otherwise.....!

Shame it's -10 and not the -30 Luton had to deal with....

Well that included transfer payment irregularities iirc.

So the PST seem convinced that the 10pt deduction will be taken off this season, hopefully they are in for a bit of a shock.

If they get away with that it will be astonishing, they will have effectively broken the terms of an agreed CVA and received no penalty for it, it will show other clubs how they should just ignore CVAs next time. Maybe the FL will say ok we'll do 10pts this season as agreed, but next season it's -15pts?

This is the kind of sh1t my Pompey supporting friends put on facebook

5 years ago we played Cardiff in the FA cup. Today they get promoted to the premier league and we're relegated to league 2. Still, won more trophies then them since. And Arsenal. And Everton, and Reading, and Southampton

Not sure how that would be justified, but natural justice says that it ought to.

They just want to put the past completely behind them and start with their club now - being penalised for what happened in the past when owned by others doesn't really help anyone.

The Sporting Sanctions of points deductions were brought in as a "deterrent" - the number of times they've been applied shows just how utterly crap a deterrent they are.

Automatic relegation for first administration, expulsion from League for 2 administrations in 5 years?

Or would that be too draconian? (Or just stupid?)

It might be counter productive.

In the cases of Wrexham and York, where the owner didn't give a toss about the football club and wanted to build houses on its ground, penalties like that would be manna from heaven in helping get rid of the football club.

And as with Portsmouth, sporting sanctions after the irresponsible owner had left only hit a club when it's down and stop the new owners rebuilding it - whoever they might be.

As I say, the points deductions were meant to be a deterrent, never expected to be applied! That went well! But there's just no threat in them, because bad owners don't intend to hang around or don't care about the club's long-term welfare.

The only answer is proper financial monitoring and disclosure, so that you can stop problems before they happen - and we're slowly, slowly getting there, in the FL and conference, at least.
