As City are going to get a European spot by virtue of their league placing, if they were to win the cup, then the runner up in the FA Cup (Wigan) final would receive the European place, unless they are already qualified for Europe, in which case it goes to a league team (about 7th spot usually)

For some reason, I thought you lost that FA Cup runners up Euro spot if you were relegated.

Is that true? That if Wigan go down they lose the European spot. I thought it changed from this year onwards...

Was that after what happened to Birmingham? Everything I've read about them seems to suggest they've qualified by virtue of what I posted above, I've not heard any proviso of them having to stay up to play in Europe.

FA Cup runner up takes it if the FA Cup winners are already in but this runner up then takes the Europa League spot that usually goes to the league cup winner (because that spot is the lowest you get, you enter at the first stage), the League Cup winner then gets the spot given to 5th place in the league and 5th place in the league gets the spot usually given to the FA Cup winner

simples!

Birmingham won the Carling Cup though - not runners-up in the FA Cup

TBM I have us finishing 12th

I've managed to work it so that we stay up AND Chelsea don't get into Europe. Which is nice.

TBM
Cobi Don't we want Wigan to go down? They have to juggle Thursday and Sunday European trips next season. That could really hurt their season!

Are they defo in Europe then? - i thought if they lost it goes to the league place???

FA Cup - If Winner already in Europe, runner-up gets UEFA Cup place
League Cup - If Winner already in Europe, runner-up gets nada and UEFA Cup place goes to league position.

It's only if the FA cup winner qualifies for the Champions League that the UEFA place goes to the runner up, if the FA cup winner finishes fifth (eg) then they get the FA cup UEFA spot and the league's UEFA spot moves down a place

Aldershot more or less down.

They have to win at Rotherham, hope Barnet lose at Northampton, overturn a 6 goal difference deficit........and hope Wimbledon don't win.

As much hope as we have.

I remember the last time Brentford had a crunch match on the final day of the season to gain promotion from League One...

Pleased for Bournemouth. Eddie Howe seems like a great guy and the games will be fun against them next year. Swindon or Yeovil to join them and Brentford please!

Hope Barnet & Wimbledon stay up in League 2. Dag & Reg to join Aldershot in the abyss.

Not really. He was probably at home watching Britian's Got Talent re-runs while Cureton was slotting home the equaliser.
