The Sky Sports sponsored mass hysteria around this is all a bit cringeworthy really. Sky News m8ey outside Anfield last night shook his head and said 'these are dark days for football' as if Suarez had gunned down a bunch of children.

if you keep him in you are condoning what he did and, er, it'd be just typical of the game today, how low the game has sunk.

etc

When someone annoys you do you turn around and bite them? How would you react if someone bit you? I'm guessing it wouldn't be "oh you're alright mate at least you're entertaining. Would you like a piece out of the other arm?".

Some of you need your heads testing more than he does if you can't see what's wrong with one human being biting another one.

hang on, who said it was a good thing?

He'll get a long ban and rightly so. But, as Soggy correctly points out (and SF), the Sky Sports faux outrage is just hyped-up bollox. Sturridge could have ended a player's career, but no outrage on that.

The thing is very few bad tackles have true intent to get the player and not the ball. This did!

What Suarez did isn't physically that bad but just the work of someone clearly not right in the head. Hopefully he'll get a lengthy ban and have his head sorted out!!

This.

If we're talking about 'faux outrage', it's the calls of 'career ending tackle' every time someone mistimes a challenge.

But it didn't happen to me so I can stand back and have a view unclouded by the emotion of being caught up in the incident.

Idiot tried to bite another (probably) idiot, doesn't appear to do a gr8 job of it, everyone gets on with their lives.

It was a stupid bloke doing something stupid, nothing more than that. No one is perfect, everyone makes stupid mistakes, some more than others and some sillier than others but that is really all it is, what harm was actually done by this? nothing. Give him a 3 match ban as would have happened had the ref seen it, get him to say sorry and everyone carries on.

High tackles can happen on a football pitch, they aren't nice but it's understandable why they can occur. The conscious action of a human being turning around and biting someone else is not normal you have to something seriously wrong in your head to do that.

Maybe he has a problem with anger, I would guess there are a lot of people out there that have. if you had a camera following them around you would see similar if not worse incidents. Maybe this incident will be the catalyst that pushes him to look for treatment for an anger issue and the end results is that no harm was done to Ivanovic and Suarez sorts himself out. Sometimes life works that way, the world isn't perfect.

Soggs there are standards of decency and professionalism to which players have to abide, this incident can’t just be passed over as like any other. I cite the NBA a lot – over there they get massive fines or game bans for not wearing the right clothes in press conferences, nevermind long suspensions for fighting or violence on the court. It’s a league that prides itself in the integrity of its players.

That a dangerous tackle does more damage than a nibble on the arm isn’t relevant. It’s biting, it’s pretty vile, and the action is deliberate and aimed to hurt or injure. It should be punished accordingly.

I think there's cause to ban him for longer than 3 games, and Liverpool might do well to pre-empt the FA and suspend him straight away.

But calls for a 6 month ban, or his sacking, are ridiculous.

Just give him 4 games - season over - start afresh in August

Suarez has tweeted that he's been fined and that he's asked the club to don8 the money to the Hillsborough fund (sweet).

1. Surely that's not his decision. (Though I would hope the Liverpool pr people are behind this and have a tight rein on his twitter a/c)
2. What normally happens with club fines?

Depends who you're playing with, but more often than not these days you put them in the middle of the board.

I thought it was self-serving and arrogant. If he wants to make a donation to the fund, then he can make one, but that should be completely separate to his fine.
