andrew1957 I think ALF will go if a PL club come in for him.

It would be unfair to stop him and he is somewhat of a luxury player as he never looks good enough if he starts a match, but does look great off the bench.

The worry is that Pog is likely to leave too, Church is off, Roberts is unlikely to be offered a new contract and Hunt has said he will only sign again if offered two years (which is unlikely) so that leaves us with Blackman as our sole remaining striker. We will have a lot of work to do in this department if we are to do well at Championship level next season.

As said elsewhere I'll be devastated if ALF leaves.

Being left with just Blackman (who's mostly played on the wing), Samuel, Bignall and Ikpeazu, would seem like a recipie for disaster.

Hopefully we can get some money for him, but it will be good if he goes.

RUMOUR: Le Fondre to Leeds

by TBM » 26 Apr 2013 09:50

Leeds United are reported to be interested in signing Adam Le Fondre.

Le Fondre is Reading FC’s leading scorer this season with 12 goals, but has made just one start in four games under new manager Nigel Adkins.

The first of many links between our players and Leeds.

ALF is a big Man Utd fan though....not shy in admitting it either. That would go down well at Leeds.

To be fair though, McDermott wasn't exactly starting him every week.

He preferred Hunt over Alf in a 4-4-2 last season.

I'd rather we kept him. Up front with Roberts or another big man would be aces.

Where are Leeds going to find the £3 million minimum it'll take to prize him out of Hammond's vice like grip?

Why would he go to Leeds where he'll arguably have less chance of getting promoted than he would here, where a lot of his competition is likely to be gone and we could well revert to 4-4-2 at the lower level where he'll be much more likely to start than he is this season?

Why would we sell at any price to a Championship rival when we're already almost certain to lose Church and Roberts, Hunt is out of contract and Pogrebnyak is a high earner who could well attract interest or want to move? That would leave us with Blackman, who has made the majority of his appearances on the flank, not upfront.

Him going to Leeds would be an outrage.

Not too worried about Alfie IMO, Hammond isnt going to let him go for anything less than 4-5M, and with that we can get Austin.
Sorted.

He will score loads for us next season in the Champ so it would utterly stupid to get rid of him.

Agreed. We wont be able to replace him like-for-like, so it makes no sense to let him go. Sit him down, assure him he's in our plans (hopefully that is the case) and then make him a starter next season with the right strike partner. He deserves his chance.

RUMOUR: Le Fondre to Hull

by paultheroyal » 26 Apr 2013 13:00

Hull City are reported to be interested in signing Adam Le Fondre in readiness for return to the Premier League. Guarantee of Premier League football and a return to his northern roots are the main factors behind Le Fondre wanting the move.

Le Fondre is Reading FC’s leading scorer this season with 12 goals, but has made just one start in four games under new manager Nigel Adkins.
