Haag Royal Can anyone tell me why HRK gets a game? He was yet again an embarrasment when he came on.

Reckon I could do better than him - certainly no worse.

Can anyone tell me how this person can string a sentence together?

I actualy thought we played pretty well today-shame we did'nt put that in against Wigan, Soton and Villa.

McCarthy:6 One good save one error of judgement-but QPRs shooting was woeful.

Gunter : 7 Very good going forward.
Kelly : 6 Solid defensively but not much going forward-was it a penalty against him ? If he fell over it was pretty stupid.
Marriapa : 8 Back to his best.
Morrison: 6 Could have done better in the first half with that header but solid defensively

Mc Anuff : 6 Did pretty well but ran out of steam again.
Karacan: 7 One of his best games.
Guthrie 8 MOM terrific and worked hard
Blackman 5 The only poor performance I hope he is not out of his depth.
McCleery 6 Constant threat lots of energy

Pog 7 Very good-held the ball up well and linked the play on another day could have scored two

Rbson K 6 Started poorly but got better
Alf 6 Should have been on earlier-looks like he is on his way
Harte 5 Not on long but a couple of poor crosses

If only we could keep Pog and Guthrie

Yep - certainly better than he can string a set of passes together.

PS do you actually watch RFC or just listen to it on the radio/read the Evening Post?

It was absolute pig AIDS from start to finish and both teams deserve to be demoted to the southern league.

MOTM me and anyone else who watched all of it and is still alive to tell the tale

We are relegated and genuinely not bothered in the slightest. Probably because I have got used to the idea 8 games ago.

Of course I want to experience it again but I will also enjoy trying it again. Looking forward to...

New team
New players
New brand of football
More games
More winnable games
Midweek football
Great away days.

sandman
winchester_royal That was the best Jem has played all season. The ball retention axis looked comfortable, and for the first time it didn't look like we were playing a game that was unnatural.

Still a long way to go in terms of chance creation, but that will only come through time, patience, and practice.

:|

Played the exact same sideways passing that many have complained about in the past.

Every team has to have a spell of 'sideways passing'. It's called ball retention and allows you to spend a period of time on the ball and look to open up gaps in the opposition defense. Christ, if the majority of fans seriously can't see the value of being able to keep the ball for more than 5 seconds then this club is doomed.

My point was that we actually looked comfortable passing the ball sideways, backwards, and forwards today; the movement was much sharper...and we rarely looked like making the basic errors that were so evident against Saints a few weeks ago. Still lots of work to be done, and I'm not for a single second suggesting that today was a 'good' performance...but technically we are on a different level to where we were when NA took over and I find that encouraging.

Royal Lady Well, contrary to a lot of callers, on my way home, to Radio Berks - I thought we played ok there - everyone had a good game, everyone got stuck in. Disgusted with the bloke behind me who continually abused Blackman and the fans chanting for ALF - Blackman plays because he's told to and as Mick Gooding said, he's not being played through the middle which is his preferred position. He'll be good for us in Championship I reckon. I think we have the makings of a quality team in the Championship - I think we'll do all right - I can see what Adkins is trying to do, and our passing was brilliant at times today, no long ball hit and hope - so he has the rest of this season and pre-season to bring in a few more players, get rid of a few and concentrate on his game plan. I'm looking forward to winning lots of games in the Championship. URZZZZ!

100% agreed :-)

I hated the sideways, pointless ball retention under Rogers, but imo that wasn't what was dished up today.

I thought it was far more attacking and purposeful, and.backs up Adkins saying he wants it passed through the team, but he also wants it played quickly

Didn't think we were too bad tbh

I thought some of football today was very good. We're a much better passing side now, and we move too. Such a contrast to when McDermott's football.

I'm really looking forward to the summer and seeing who comes in and who leaves. Personally I wont be too disappointed with anyone leaving, other than McCarthy and Le Fondre. The rest are replaceable.

Roll on the summer!

McAnuff is key for me. Would happily say tata to the rest. And if selling McCarthy for big cash gives us more money for outfield players then regrettably, it's probably worth it.

Appreciate that some people are trying to look on the bright side and all that but come on, seriously. That was an appalling display today against the second worst team in the division who we are equal on points with and if there were anyone we were going to beat during our recent run, one might reasonably expect it to be them.

I thought the performance today went backwards compared with the way we played against Norwich where our new passing game did actually exert some sort of control for periods of the game.

It was symptomatic of the way we have played all season, square pegs in round holes, poor distribution, uncertain defending, final ball atrocious. There were occasions when we looked dangerous but the game had a nil-nil written all over it from ten minutes in.

At least we're not QPR though.

Championship "football" for the first time this season from both sides. Didn't look a whole different from last season except we have no cutting edge in front of goal. Some great comedy ineptitude from both sides and a whole lot of humour at just how sh*t QPR were to make us look even half way functional. Just how much money did they spend on that shower - Loric Remy £8.5 million!!!

Going to be a long hard struggle next season and we really need a pacy goal scorer(s) or it will be McD tactics to get us out :o

Keep the trio of McCarthy, Morrison and Mariappa for next season and I can really see us getting the most clean sheets in the league.
With age as well, this trio will only get better.
I think they can be as good a trio, if not better, than the magnificent Hahnemann, Sonko, Ingimarsson trio in their heyday.

Hopefully Pearce leaving will make it hard for the board to justify selling either of Morrison and Mariappa as well.

MaCarthy 7 - no real issues with him as he keeper, his fast distribution to fullbacks and rolling the ball quickly out to midfield is encouraging, and much better than hoofing it up field. Only negative was when he went walkabout first half, allowing Bothroyd a free shot (lob) at goal.

Mapps 8 - Solid today, my MOTM, he read the game well and made some important blocks on numerous occasions.
Morro 7 - decent game, looks like he is forming a good partnership with Mapps. unlucky not to score at the death with his header Green pushed over.
Gunter 6 - Some good overlapping runs and crosses down the right flanks, defensively did ok, against the tricky QPR fullback Traore
Kelly 5 - doesn't look comfortable at left full back, when in good positions to cross his delivery was slow coming in as he wanted to cut back onto right foot, and no surprise was replaced by Harte our natural LB late on

Jobi 8 - one of his better days today, but maybe that because he is playing a team on a par with ourselves, and that he has no fear to run at the opposition & not be overwhelmed by them. real captains shift today, want to see more of this standard of leadership & performance from him next game
Jem 6- decent game, linked play up nicely at times
Guthrie 8 - best game from him in a long time. looked up for it today, wanted the ball and linked play nicely. only negative for me was his set-paly delivery was poor at times.
Blackman 4 - out of his depth, out of position, to slow to get the ball into the box when in a good attacking position. school boy error by committing a foul throw in professional football
McCleary 5 - made some good runs going forward, but wasn't always utilised, he needs to play regularly to see the best of him I feel

Pog 7 - should of scored, how he missed that large goal bound bundle first half is just staggering. He looked up for the challenge today, and was much more involved in our build up play, although his first touch was ropey at times, which needs to be better if we are to bring the likes of Jem & Guithrie into the game in advanced positions

Subs:
HRK 5 - made a couple of good runs going forward, but didn't do much else to change the result of the game
Alfie 5 - no impact today, a couple of good forward runs only to be foiled by the lino's flag, just couldn't get in the game
Harte 5 - brought on to utilise his left foot, but we didn't use it much.
