Theroyalbox Would someone please elaborate and tell me in English how likely we are of this actually happening ...

Fairly UNlikely but it would be skillz if we did!

It's not unlikely it's impossible. Thought someone already explained that - Any placing would go to the highest team in the league not already in europe.

Not true, according to this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Respe ... ay_ranking

The three highest placed national associations in the UEFA Respect Fair Play ranking will each automatically gain an extra qualification berth for the First Qualifying Round, providing they have exceeded the threshold of games played, and have a minimum average score of 8.0. These berths are then allocated to the highest placed club in that association's own Fair Play league that has not yet qualified for either the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Europa League.

Sanguine We've never played in Europe in our history. This looks unlikely, but any fan who wouldn't want to see us play in the Europa League, even if its just some miserable outpost in Armenia before capitulating at home in the second leg, is absolutely mental.

THIS!!!

Of course it would be a great experience if we got into Europe! Would make up for not getting there first time in the Prem.

To be fair didn't we turn down the Intertoto cup in 2007?

For crying out loud that's what I said Rev!!!

We are NOT top of the fair play league anyway:

We are not getting into Europe. End of. Discussion.

it read as "in the league" rather than "in the fair play table"

I don't think anyone was under the impression we could qualify without being the best placed team in the fair play league (unless higher teams were in Europe).

We are not getting into Europe. End of. Discussion.

And let's all be very thankful for that.

Mind you, Adkins does seem on pre-season games in Switzerland judging by where Southampton have been, so we'll have to make do with that.

Yes, but we did just miss out on an automatic European place which is what I meant.

The highest team in the fair play league - and surely it's not impossible that it would be us?

the fair play table isn't the one shown at the start of this thread, which just tallies up red and yellow cards.

It's this one...

Oddly out of date, but we probably haven't risen much higher than 8th since then.

Sidwell sent off. Fox and Ramirez off yesterday. With all the rest being potentially in Europe (If Chelsea win the Europa?)

The other criteria is that England has to be one of the small number of countries awarded a fair play place. It all seems rather unlikely.

To be honest, as good as a european trip would be, I'd be embarrassed about "qualifying" in a such a way, and I'd worry about us being embarrassed on the pitch too.

It's not like we'd be playing any of the top European teams now is it....

jar95 http://espnfc.com/stats/fairplay/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5739#

that isn't the fair play league that's used, as said above.

More likely they are just looking at the wrong table.

Both Liverpool and Saints have today ruled themselves out of accepting this as a route to the Europa league as both clubs feel a route to Europe should be based on their performances on the pitch and not FairPlay.

I would personally love it if we were offered the chance to watch us play in Europe, although others think otherwise.

Couldn't care less about how we got there, it would be oxf*rd epic. I'm all for a summer break in a far flung Eastern European city, although knowing out luck we'd probably draw someone like Bangor...

Would we accept the invitation; if the offer was there?

If offered Europe we should take it purely to build our brand image!
