I've read every match report I can think of in British newspapers and they have all said it was absolutely dire.
Yep, Clockwise.

Gawd knows I moan and whinge on here - but I truly cannot see why people are complaining? If you expected to win that game and stay up then, sure, you'd be disappointed with that performance, but in the real world we were never going to stay up.

But, we played ok - there were glimmers of what could be next season, with a few more players in, and Adkins continuing to work on their passing. Their heads didn't drop, they kept trying to push for a goal - we were passing the ball well - some players were starting to make runs which were unheard of a few weeks/months back. I was happy with what I saw - sure, if we don't strengthen in the Summer then I'd be hopping made, but that's hardly likely is it?

Look to the future guys - have faith in Adkins and the players - give them your support not knock them all the time - and you will be rewarded! (and no, I haven't been drinking!)

Personally thought it was one of the better games I've seen this season, we shows some promise, moved the ball around well and created more chances than usual. Saying that performance was "dire" compared to what I've seen in most other games we've played this season seems bizarre.

McCarthy looked solid enough, can't kick to save his life though.
Gunter looked ok, gave an option going forward but like most of the wingers, was frustrating on a few occasions when there were acres of space to run in to and he just didn't seem to know what to do. Few decent crosses, few bad ones too.
Morrison and Maps both looked solid enough, though Maps seem to struggle against Bothroyds physical presence. Still don't understand why we use Maps to mark the big striker and Pearce/Morrison to make the quick striker. Makes no sense to me.
Kelly is not a left back, but was still better than Harte.
Karacan and Guthrie both looked decent enough.
McCleary worked hard but nothing seem to come off for him. Against frustrating to see him cut inside a lot when there was space to run into down the wings.
McAnuff, probably the best game I've seen from him this season. Worked hard and the crowd responded to it. linked up play well.
Blackman seemed non-existent to me. Can't remember him doing anything of note. Not sure why he's starting at the moment as he doesn't seem ready.
Pog played well. Looked so much better when the ball played to his feet. He is not a target man and the abuse he is getting on here for his hold up play is ridiculous. He was winning the ball and laying it off to the players around him, had one decent chance in the second half, and missed by inches.

HRK did ok, some of his passing was pretty wayward, looked dangerous though and seemed to upset QPR's defence, at least until ALF came on.
ALF was woeful. Added nothing of note. Thought the chants for him to come on almost from half time were ridiculous. Seemed to take up the same space as Pog and just got in the way. Laid the ball off once in all the time he came on and some twat behind me proceeded to shout out "that's how you do it Pog!" when he'd been doing the same thing all game.
Ian Harte, didn't understand the sub at all. Thought he was coming on to take set pieces, and didn't take any of them.

Two truly dire sides, god knows how either have got more then 10 points this season let alone 20.

That said I thought Reading were the better of the two and at least showed promise that something exciting this way comes next season.

That's just the media deciding it's a better story if a nil-nil between the two bottom teams who are both relegated is portrayed as some kind of horror show.

In fact, we played better and created more chances against QPR than we have in most other games this season.

I thought it was interesting to see a couple of players try tricks and flicks. Something virtually unheard of for much of the season. There seemed to be a lot more movement and rapid interchange of passes in the middle when we had space. But I wouldn't really go as far as to say we were passing particularly well. Although compared to earlier in the season it was certainly an improvement.

I though MotD made us look positively exciting and just not firing correctly upfront. Previously I've thought they've made us look like we were never in games simply because for all the pressure we may have had, we never produced a shot worth showing.

Cripple Creek To paraphrase John Cleese in Clockwork: "It's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand."

I realise he's been pretty crap since he signed but it is a bit harsh to single him out.

floyd__streete The whole 'McD was sacked to give Adkins time to experiment' bobbins doesn't really stack up when he fields exactly the same starting XI who failed against Norwich :|

Guthrie played well in midfield but his set-pieces were poor. Blackman was absolutely diabolical; playing as a winger, his lack of confidence on the ball is summed up by him turning and shileding the ball with his back to the opposition goal whenever he is under pressure.

Our fans are complete idiots. The love-affair with ALF I find staggering, Pog is twice the player. Pog turns and hits a glorious effort which curls just wide second half.....and the Le Fondre chant comes up. ALF once again mainly anonymous when he came on.

Blackman must have caught that disease from our team. He definitely isn't the only one who does that, half our midfield has been doing it all season. I call it dawdling  McAnuff does it all the time, but I don't remember him doing it yesterday. Coincidentally, he played a lot better. And Pog should have buried that chance he made for himself, had to at least hit the target.

Agreed with people saying Pogrebnyak wasn't too bad yesterday. I thought he was one of our better players for sure, he held up the ball and brought others into play all afternoon. Felt sorry for him the the le Fondre chants.

Bit harsh to single out Blackman. People say he's out of his depth, yes but isn't the rest of the team?

I won't judge him until next season, personally think he works hard but lacking self belief.

I think he knows the players he thinks can adapt to his style of football, simple :)

Dave the rave From the comments on here and on the radio after the game it seems that people are split 50:50 on whether we were rubbish or not.

Anyone who enjoyed any part of that game or thought it was in any way positive is an out and out sadist.
We were rubbish, the game was rubbish and QPR were rubbish. The passing was mainly rubbish, the final ball (not that we managed to attempt many) was rubbish.

As another poster said, QPR and us deserved what we got and it was fitting we both confirmed our fates together yesterday.

One glimmer of hope was the defence which looked ok but most players out there are not cut out for a passing style of play or decisive link up/counter attacking.

I was hoping two teams who have let their fans down so badly this season might have had a go at each other but we were served up utter, utter shite yesterday.

There also seems to be a debate as to whether Pog was any good yesterday or not. He was not.

Have to agree with this, except Ii thought our defence was as shite as the rest of the team, so no glimmer of hope for me there. In the 5-10 minutes after the break, QPR were finding a lot of space, particularly down our right.

I'm all for being encouraged by progress, but I think some people on here are getting a bit too overexcited by what transpired on Saturday.

Playing at home, up against the shittest team in the league, we couldn't score a goal, had only 5 shots on target, and according to some sources didn't even have the most possession.

This was a 'championship' game for all intents and purposes. As an indication of what next season is going to be like, I can't say I'm that excited.

I will however give yet another pat on the back for Jobi. Only outfield player this season who can really hold his head up high. MOM and POS for me.

It's not though is it? We have 3+ months to work on improving what is a completely new way of playing to many in this squad, as well as what is likely to be a busy summer window. If we're still playing like that in Novemeber then yes there's cause for concern, but there's no real reason for thinking we will be.

Fair enoughs, winch.

But still think getting even a quarter-on over Saturdays performance would be an overreaction.

I don't if it's been mentioned elsewhere (I can't be arsed to trawl through the ill thought out opinions on this site to find out) but what did the QPR bedsheet banner say? It really was far too badly designed to put whatever point they may have had across
