Zaretsky
WHTID
Zaretsky What's your take on the cutting of ticket prices to fill the OS having an effect on Leyton Orient's attendance and viability?

I find it absolutely hilarious. The fact that a side that averages what about 2.5k per match, run by some clueless clown, believe they deserve a ground share. Bizarre. I hate everything about them. If our move drives them into the ground and kills the club, I'll be delighted. Tiny club, no history, crap league, crap team, no fans

TBH I wasn't really referring to the idea of a ground share, more that having a "big club" on their doorstep, undercutting prices to fill an athletics stadium (because actually, they're not such a "big club") is going to have a crushing effect on that 2.5k support or any chance of increasing it.

......

But if you're a kid near the Olympic Stadium, who do you go and see? A Premier League team who are practically giving tickets away, or a lower league team who aren't. It's a no-brainer.

I agree it won't affect Orient's current attendances, but it effectively kills any chances of them growing or attracting the next generation of supporters.

Mind you, Hearn is much more interested in getting compensation to allow Orient to move out to a new ground Epping Forest way than in anything to stop West Ham's move. And he's such an utter tw@ that it's down to his stupidity that the leagues can't stop this move, which it looked for a while like they might.

WHTID Just wanted to say lads, sorry about the pricing for our last game against you. It's an absolute ripoff, £49 is disgraceful.
Apparently we charged you £40 so it's all about finding the right price point

I think we're in complete agreement (re-reading my post, there's definitely room for confusion). My point was WHam consider themselves a "big club" with lots of latent support but actually they're not really big enough to fill the Olympic stadium, thereby having to undercut Orient (and yes, it's more a point on making it harder to grow those attendances)

Not really. Most of us will still turn up to watch 11 men in blue and white shirts playing against another 11 men in different coloured shirts. The main differences will be:

- More games
- It will be cheaper
- We're more likely to win
- We're more likely to score
- We can have some better away days
- Less pundits taking rubbish about us
- Less 'blokes down the pub' talking rubbish about us
- Less prima donna players
- Less prima donna opposition
- Less big club favouritism from refs
- More chance of young players who come from Reading getting a game

The only downside appear to be:
- Less money for the club, but that doesn't really affect me personally anyway
- Lower profile for the club. Again doesn't bother me, i like being different and supporting little old Reading

Well said sir.

Spot on sir.

No more MOTD
No more Shearer/Hansen etc
No more "Premier League match day experience"

The more I think about it, am happy to say cheerio to the 'mid table mugs' in the Premier League paying over-inflated prices to watch over-hyped football.
Looking forward to a Tuesday night at home to Ipswich, or a day out at Bournemouth.
And almost forgot, 107 points would be nice.

It is all well and good suggesting that West Ham may struggle to fill the OS but how can anyone, hand on heart, really say that? What is the current waiting list for STs at the Boleyn? Throw in the excellent transport links to the OS, compared to the old place and it is quite easy to speculate on the additional numbers that they will attract.

There were plenty of people pouring scorn on the capacity of the Mad Stad when it was built. Is it big enough?

To add to this, don't forget the 20,000+ homes to be built on the OP in the next decade. I have heard it suggested that WH will offer each household a free season ticket, on condition that they pay for another.

No history? Really? I find it amusing that people who have those billy big bollocks attitude who keep trotting out that line "no history". According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyton_Orient_F.C. they have been in existence since 1881. So if that's no history, what have they been doing for 133 years, eh?

Totally agree. By my reckoning that gives them exactly 14 years more history than West Ham

I don't know if anyone has seen the Barclays sponsored post on Facebook offering the chance to win tickets to West Ham vs Reading.

It's just a load of West Ham fans posting that we're **** and basically being the cocky arrogant idiots that we're used to seeing.

I wish I could say the majority of West Ham fans are alright but if here and there is anything to go by, I can't (bar the original poster).

I detest west ham infinitely more than any other club in the world and have no time for a lot of WH fans (to be fair I've mainly come across trolls on here) but come on WH is leagues apart from orient and by far the bigger side!

I don't wish to disrespect WHTID. It really is refreshing coming across a decent WH fan (which I'm sure the vast majority of you are) and its nice of you to come here and I apologise for any dickishness towards you!

Having said that I completely agree with Spacey above. WH are obviously currently the bigger and better club who have achieved a lot but you can't claim a club has "no history" when they've been around for FOURTEEN YEARS longer than you have. For fourteen years they existed and you didn't. They were making history and you weren't. They were playing matches and you weren't. They were signing players and you weren't. In terms of history theirs is bigger than yours and you have to respect that. And as for Reading, well ours is even longer than that. At one point we were the oldest team in the Premier League. Whilst you come in peace and you're a good lad, just be careful knocking other clubs just because they happen to be smaller currently, especially when technically they have more history than you, because that's probably exactly the sort of attitude that is at the root of many WH fans' bizarre hate affair with Reading: I.e. we're a relatively small club with no history so we shouldn't complain when you steal our manager and we shouldn't be beating you 6-0 etc. if its history you want, by definition 1871, 1881, 1895 speak for themselves. Respect that.

Still, Alf Garnett's and Steve Harris' favourite team will always be a big club and whilst I can't stand WH ( or rather your board in the last decade or so) I wish you well so long as you respect clubs for what they are, not what you perceive as their history.
