Thank you for your more measured respond really appreciate it, like I mentioned early it’s just unfortunate that the game falls on the last game of the season.

We are currently sold out for this game and Reading will return any tickets not sold so we will sell these on to our supporters as we have done with some already, with regards to paying the extra £13 the game has sold out obviously every supporter including myself would love cheaper tickets but with the demand current football brings it ultimately about supply and demand.

Hopefully like you say the increased money will bring down football price but I can only see it going on players and improving clubs, we our move to the Olympic Stadium we hope to bring football back to everyone.

I will try my best to clear up any other issues but sadly the price of football isn’t cheap and it does affect some fans so I do understand where you are coming from.

At the club we do a young adult membership and season ticket , this entitles a person aged between 16-21 to half price tickets and although it’s a members only scheme, so we do have this in place but its members only.

I did mention as a whole as we do monitor prices and try to be the best priced club in London, we paid as an away fan £50 and over for Chelsea Arsenal and Fulham but I understand London Derbies may push the prices up, At West Ham we have various promotion such as kids for a quid and special affordable family deals and if your club is visiting on that day you will get the discount also, I don’t mean to be disrespectful but fixtures like Reading, Wigan & Norwich would be selected for these events to try and attract as many supporters as possible, it’s nothing against those teams it just it may not sell as many as we wish.

An example of this is Arsenals top price seat is £126, Tottenham £81 Chelsea £87 West Ham £67, I know Fulham have changed us £51 but I am unsure of the top price but as that as an example we are £20 cheaper on the whole on the average adult price.

The same goes for season tickets, compare us to London club I think we would be most competitive again.

As for the away fans they always pay the lowest bracket in the stadium as it is on our lowest band of band 4, so you will always pay the lowest amount in line with our supporters. The most expensive seat for our game is £67.

I hope this puts us in a slightly better light, I understand your concerns and I think you will agree this is happening all over football as you mentioned you are not happy with home prices yourself but the season tickets are a great example of affordable football and I personally hope we see a lot more of this from other clubs.

Thanks for your feedback Alex, Even as a Royal it is much appreciated and it will go along with any home feedback with have on prices

All the best

Karl

They appear to be saying in their original email that they charge more for the last game of the season because the players make a lap of honour at the end of the game. Why does this make it more expensive for away fans? I doubt any RFC fans will be staying behind to watch their players take applause....

But it's a clever ruse and one I fully expect AZ to take note of and replicate every season from now on!

Next time West Ham want to come to the Madejski perhaps we should also tell their 17-21's, looking for cheaper tickets, to "oxf*rd off, members only"

I have just heard about this and really think you need to look at yourselves before having a go at other clubs. I am a City fan and moved from Manchester 6 years ago to London, we have been charge £42 a ticket for this match.

Based on a City fan travelling from Manchester this will work out more all in than for you to travel and buy a ticket of west ham - also add in its a Tuesday night and will involve time of work to travel and potentially lost earnings I find this topic hugely ironic. To my knowledge we haven't arranged a boycott.

This really stinks of Reading fans making excuses not to go and support their team as they are championship bound. Maybe we should email your club and ask them to explain their pricing.....

Enjoy next season, sure many of your own fans from this year will boycott your games due to cost next season so guess it gives you an opportunity to practice boycotting matches before the new season starts.

And what is inflatables day anyway? Are there going to be loads of bouncy castles and stuff for the kids to play on outside the ground next Tuesday for charity or something?

Top club, top prices m8. At Reading we don't expect to be charged that for a game against midtable oppositio.

Since when did the fans set the ticket prices?

I personally can't be fcuked to pay £50 for a meaningless match that's why I'm not going & I suspect many others feel the same. It's a symptom of what has been a shite season for us I'm afraid so hardly a surprise. Plus I don't want to line WHU's pockets as I don't particularly like them.

Call me fickle if you like - I don't give a shit! I'll be coughing up for my ST very soon so would rather put the £100+ WHU would cost me towards that.

You won't have to get the train from manchester though will you? So you don't have to worry about that.
Also It's only on a tuesday because you're in the cup final so perhaps you should ask your players to subsidise it....its obviously their fault. Are you really a city fan who 'moved' from manchester or did you jump on the bandwagon?

The fact that we are 'championship bound' might be telling here.

Why don't we force people to travel to West Ham?

Oh the irony of a Manchester City supporter having a go at other team's fans.

To be fair to the Karl from West Ham he has given an articulate, reasoned & in WHU's eye's justified response.

Whilst disagree with the completely flawed rational that a club can charge a 25% premium because it's the final game of the season & the players will be doing a “lap of honour”. As someone already pointed of this has no value to Reading Fans, nor do I suspect it does to many West Ham fans.

As a matter of principle it sends out the wrong message, when West Ham claim to be such “family club”.

The main point I do agree on is, it's that ultimately it's about supply & demand, if football fans keep paying £49 to go to West Ham & £3.80 for a horrible pint of Foster's then nothing will change.

It's a shame that any football fan is priced out of a fixture, irrespective of who any of us support.

If prices had been that high at any time before I was 25, I would have been priced out of football. £49 for a ticket plus all the match day extras and you're looking at the thick end of £100.

But it's all about economics now - I'm impressed that this bloke in the ticket office took the time to respond given there was nothing he could possibly gain from it but he specifically says it's about supply and demand. What a shame. So it's sorry young, passionate, football supporter, who wants to get around the country and enjoy some weekends away with the lads before he settles down - some middle aged bloke who will stand there moaning for the whole 90 minutes because he thinks he's Alex Ferguson having got promoted on football manager but he can afford it and that's all that matters.

This isn't a dig - but at least the lads who create atmosphere and are priced out in the premier league will have more chance of being able to follow their team, enjoy the day out and tick some grounds off the list next season.

Anyone that turns up at Upton Park on Sunday deserves complete respect from West Ham fans and while I'll happily have a grin and join in a chant in your direction - you'll actually have earned some great respect to stand there given the situation, the opposition and the cost. Fair play to all of you. Personally I think it's standing on the terraces (sitting in the new posh seats) during times of adversity that make the good times even sweeter. Given the recent record you'll probably beat us anyway and no-one could argue that anyone in there who's a Reading fan won't have earned the opportunity to have one final gloat at us.

Wouldn't find a big club like Utd complaining. If you want the success of being a big boy, get used to paying the prices chap. We're still little ol' shit Reading though, so hardly big crowd puller.

I wonder if West Ham would follow the logic of their answer and charge £50+ for an end of season game against someone big like Utd? That's surely a big draw game and the end of season lap of appreciation to charge extra for.

Of course they would. Because Karen Brady's poliy of "pricing for revenue" rather than "pricing for attendance" is all about getting the maximum money off the people who only come for specific games where there's some additional attraction (e.g. last game of the season, something to play for, big or local team who'll bring lots of supporters).

70%+ of those who'll be there won't be affected, as they have season tickets, so she wants to get the most money possible out of those there for this match only - and when prices were set at the start of the season this looked to be a fair bet for being a crucial relegation decider.

It's a reasonable commercial decision if your only aim is to make as much money as possible. In lots of other, non-commercial ways it sticks - but Ms Brady can't think in such ways.
