Slowly becoming my favourite Reading player, taking over from the sicknote Kebe.

I really hope he is with us next season.

thats 7 on the season for him with only about 25 appearances, mainly as a substitute...he will be massive for us in the championship if we can hold on to him.

melonhead
P!ssed Off Also, what do people reckon the odds of HRK being our top goal scorer throughout the remaining 8 games are?

massive

2 games left.
Scorers so far of "remaining 8 games":
HRK = 3
McCleary = 1
Le Fondre = 1
Karacan = 1

I should have placed that bet.

HRK is still developing into a good player. Let's hope he continues his development over the summer and into next season, cause he's seriously going to kick some Championship arse, on form.

Yes, you are in fact correct. It was a mild joke based on the fact that melonhead offered "massive" odds on HRK being top scorer during the remaining 8 games of the season, all of which was quoted in my comment therefore I'm unsure why you felt it necessary to point out the obvious.

At the start of the season I used to fall about laughing at the prospect of him as a regular PL starter. Slowly but surely, he's become one of our best players.

He needs time to develop however, and his career would go down the drain if he joined Cardiff now.

I don't agree with his comments today saying he feels he would been playing this well if he was given the chance 2 years ago. He is now playing really well but I think he has improved massively rather than just being given the shot, fair play to him for upping his game

I agree with you. He's found consistency, those lovely finishes (e.g. last season v. Peterborough, v. Millwall) and nice pieces of play have found a rhythm. Playing along side Bale in the national side may have helped him also - making him adapt his game to be (to reference football manager) somewhat of an inside forward.

He used to look a bit lost sometimes on the right, I'd say its been his best positions the last few weeks

Been saying since last season to make use of his ability to play striker by having him cut inside from a wide position in a 4-5-1, effectively giving us the best of two formations.

Never really understood why he's often attracted quite a bit of venom; I guess the fact he can blow hot and cold has lead to perhaps more disappointment than other players attract. But I always thought this proved he had potential. Thinking about all the goals he has scored, its difficult to recall one which wasn't incredibly impressive.

Hopefully a big player for us next season, though he needs to find that consistency, for himself more than anything as a confidence player.

Agree. He's consistently looked like he had the potential to be one of the goalscoring wide forwards we need to be able to switch to an effective 4-2-3-1 / 4-5-1 / whatever you want to call it. He's got everything he needs physically, it's just a question of whether he can do it mentally and step up to the next level.

He's needed that little more experience to start making the right decisions more often. He also seems to be forcing defenders to commit themselves more now, whereas last season he seemed to wait for a defender to make a mistake a little too much. Playing with Bale and against top class defenders and wingers can only have helped him.

Hope he's with us next season. I think he needs a season playing regularly week in, week out at a lower level to really make sure he's ready for the PL full time. I just see him as being a bit part player and failing if he goes to a lower PL / promoted club.

If Adkins tells Hal he wants him to be a key player for us next season then he'll stay. He won't want to go back to being a sub, like quite a few of our youngish players he needs a season playing first team football. A midfiled trio of McCleary, McAnuff, and Hal will cause defences real problems next season if they get the service. Vital we keep the players Nigel thinks are key, if we do then top 6 will be a near-certainty imo.

I think from Nigel's team selections he knows who he wants to keep/or could have a future and those he doesn't.

HRK, McCleary, McAnuff, Gunter fit into the first category and I doubt he will look to offload/take an offer for.

The jury is out on Blackman and ALF, though likely he will keep both.

Legsofwood, Hunt, Harte, Shorey, Mills along with Sheppard and Williams will be off loaded.

Pog undoubtably will be sold, assuming someone will buy.

Akpan and Karacan probably have half a season to prove themselves.

Think it is panning out nicely already.
