IF Wigan win tonight they'll be safe IMO.

Given there will then be 4 teams on 38 points with 2 games to go, I reckon 39 is the magic number for safety. One of those four will lose both games - whoever it is will go down.

Looking at the fixtures I'd say Sunderland or Norwich. Depends on the outcome of Chelsea v Spurs. If Spurs lose then Sunderland could well beat them.

I'd plump for Norwich - they look shite TBH.

edit oh dear Wigan.

Being selfish, Wigan going down is best for us. 46 games & UEFA cup will burn them out as it did with Brum last season.

I wouldn't rule out Wigan until it's a mathmatical certainty with their record.

I think they've run out of lives now. Won't get anything against Arsenal after playing at Wembley so all depends if they can beat Villa. I suspect not as they are buzzing right now.

Yep time's up for Wigan. They've been flirting with relegation for years and never tried to consolidate themselves as a premier league team.

It's the best outcome for us if they do go TBH. Their squad won't be able to cope with 55 games & a lot of the good players will fcuk off.

Suspect Martinez will be off too.

Feel a bit for Whelan - aren't they something like £90m in debt now? They could do a Wolves for sure.

If either Norwich or Newcastle lose on Sunday, then it will go down to the last day of the season. Assuming Wigan lose to Arsenal next Tuesday, they could still survive on goal difference if they beat Villa on the last day and Norwich or Newcastle lose again. Norwich play West Brom at home on Sunday and Man City away on the last day. Newcastle play QPR away on Sunday and Arsenal at home on the last day. I think Newcastle could still be in a spot of bother.

Reckon Norwich are doomed. can see them picking up 0 points from those 2 games and Wigan beat Villa (who will be safe by then) to stay up on goal difference.

That theory would obv depend on how many goals Norwich & Wigan both lose by at the weekend though.

Believe Reading's contribution to that game had more effect than Wigan's contribution.

They'll lose at Arsenal which will mean they have to win at home to Villa on the last day (perfectly realistic) and hope Newcastle get sod all from their games v QPR (A) and Arsenal (H)

A lot clearer at the bottom of the prem now.

By my reckoning it's between Wigan, Villa and Sunderland (if Wigan manage to beat Arsenal). The rest are safe (Southampton and Fulham aren't going to lose by more than 10-0).
