If you look at our squad players like McCarthy, McAnuff, Kebe, Guthrie, McCleary, Mapps, Kelly, Gunter, Karacan..these are all guys who have shown in the past that they are excellent players at that level. Then add in younger players like Hal, Hope, and Morrison who have all shown signs this season of being able to compete at PL level let alone the Championship and I don't think its unreasonable at all to suggest that under a manager with a near spotless record who's shown in his short time that he will get the best out of the more talented players that we will be very serious contenders is we can keep the squad together and supplement it with a couple of intelligent signings.

Being selfish I think tbe best thing to happen is Wigan or Sunderland to get relegated. Newcastle would be a force and Hughton has experience of getting up again so Norwich could bounce back. Wigan or Sunderland are the most likely to implode IMO.

Yeovil look very very good. If they go up, they could be dangerous... Although they don't have the financial clout of most other teams. If they don't Paddy Madden should be our first signing

Please can this thread be stickied for this time next season?

I fear Jay's now infamous 'only an idiot...' speech could well be trumped

Lower West
Royal Rother The improvement Adkins has brought about in a short space of time,

Another day yesterdays result could have been so totally different. Already relegated the team could could play with worrying about it.

Adkins has to improve the team defensively. This will mean new signings. Most importantly the right ones.

Not sure I agree with that.

Maybe some cover is required but Kelly, Gunter, Morrison and Mariappa are more than good enough for a team challenging in the Championship.

It's better coaching that is required.

Ian Royal Er absolutely everything. Wages indicate qyality of player. Theres a 90%+correlation between wages and league placing every season. So its a hell of a lot better yardstick than 'der I fink we woz well luky to do so gud init.'

Eell done on picking up two of the extremely rare exceptions.

I'm sorry did I say 'der I fink we woz well luky to do so gud init' ??? or was you referring to someone else in here? I do hope so.

^^^this

apart slight concerns about the vagaries of momentum and form and the competetive nature of the championship, i wholeheartedly agree

Ideal
Ian Royal It's a myth we punched well above our weight as the wage bills showed. We were top 6 the previous season and we were top six in wages again last season.

No, that only means we were stupid enough to pay mediocre players high wages. That means nothing else than that.

but they took us up.

Leeds
Charlton
Huddersfield

and I think we may possibly have a sleeping giant in Sheffield Wednesday about to be awoken by Dave Jones they are long overdue a good season in the Championship and a club of that size should be in the Premier League.

Tokyo Sex Whale Ipswich will be there.

Jay Tabb to out-jump Morrison at the far post and nod home the winner in the play-off final 21014.

I think everyone will beat everyone else and the gap between top and bottom at the end of the season will be 15 points.

Reading will be there or thereabouts.
