It's a shame that any football fan is priced out of a fixture, irrespective of who any of us support.
If prices had been that high at any time before I was 25, I would have been priced out of football. £49 for a ticket plus all the match day extras and you're looking at the thick end of £100.
But it's all about economics now - I'm impressed that this bloke in the ticket office took the time to respond given there was nothing he could possibly gain from it but he specifically says it's about supply and demand. What a shame. So it's sorry young, passionate, football supporter, who wants to get around the country and enjoy some weekends away with the lads before he settles down - some middle aged bloke who will stand there moaning for the whole 90 minutes because he thinks he's Alex Ferguson having got promoted on football manager but he can afford it and that's all that matters.
This isn't a dig - but at least the lads who create atmosphere and are priced out in the premier league will have more chance of being able to follow their team, enjoy the day out and tick some grounds off the list next season.
Anyone that turns up at Upton Park on Sunday deserves complete respect from West Ham fans and while I'll happily have a grin and join in a chant in your direction - you'll actually have earned some great respect to stand there given the situation, the opposition and the cost. Fair play to all of you. Personally I think it's standing on the terraces (sitting in the new posh seats) during times of adversity that make the good times even sweeter. Given the recent record you'll probably beat us anyway and no-one could argue that anyone in there who's a Reading fan won't have earned the opportunity to have one final gloat at us.
